Thank you for sharing the reality of Arena. You are one of the reasons I have started playing ranked. It is good to see others not getting what they need in a game. Plus your decks are fun to play.

30:20 the authority matchups were a lot of fun. Definitely my favorite card from Foundations and it's not even close. Suggest trying Selesnya Control on the channel. Authority, split up, beanstalk, caretaker's talent, green overlord, stroke of midnight, sun fall, etc.

Great stuff as always Sloth! Today I played an extremely toxic guy who was playing bant zur and deliberately took the maximum amount of time to do pretty much everything for the entire game. Constantly running the timer out as much as possible whether there was a decision to make or not. He could have lost in ten minutes but instead he lost in half an hour. I don't understand what is wrong with these people or why a card game attracts so many toxic people, but wizards need to do something about it.

I can answer your question if you like but you won't like it. Magic has very few players, and lots of addicts. Most of its money comes from two kinds of people: nostalgia kitchen table casuals, and addicts. And the casual guys aren't really playing Arena all that much, because it's a dreadful experience. So there you go, most people on MTGA are just lightweight gambling addicts.
@jangoeder893919 күн бұрын
@@TheAcad3mic Good summary - i also quit the game because of those addicts (who are in my opionon all the Aggro players, so they get their winning seretonin more often). But there are some things YOU can do: 1) Stop considering Magic a competetive game. Its highly luck based (draw, lands, going first). 2) Accepting this, don´t play ranked anymore, its just a grind, preffering some Decks over others. 3) Play unranked and CONCEDE every opponent which is doing boring Decks or playing like a salty rat 4) Enjoy the little amount of fun that´s left in this game

I tried making a rampy haste focused deck with bitter reunion and ferocification to enable Overlord of the Boilerbilges and Drakuseth, Maw of Flames to just do insane damage out of nowhere. But over and over I just saw authority of the consuls and it shut me down very hard. Very strong card.

Keep watching your videos, very like them. And you use so much cool, cards I have good memories from previous standard, not aggro decks I enjoy to play. And you hate RDW as much as I do.
@SlothMtg14 күн бұрын
Thanks man, appreciate it :) Yeah, I loved the times when we could play lessons for 3 mana draw 2, and that was the 'busted' play :) RDW isn't very healthy for the game imho. Love to hear that you like the channel, thanks for comment❤️🦥
@sonokino14 күн бұрын
@SlothMtg RDW is fine when it is not drawing cards for nothing and doesn't have trample. When Embercleave was legal I knew that I won the game if I have sweeper, chump blocker and one removal in opening hand, now I most likely dead in same scenario. Mostly salty part - why my aggro opponent draw more cards than me, playing control?

I had a feeling incinerator of the guilty could work well with the right kit. That second game with the blue white god draw feels like every other game for me these days...

On each of Your videos (which I am watching for a long time now) you sound always so enthusiastic and cheerful. I mean seriously how do You manage to do it. I think at this point I am more watching Your videos because I'm trying to find the same enthusiasm in the game but I just can't find it. Each time I play it feels like I'm playing against cheaters.. they always have answers, they can win on turn 3-4, they have more card draws then gambit in xmens..or reanimate things on board and take over the game in 1 turn. Where is "fair" magic I remember from my old days playing it with cards? How can we play and find fun in the game to experiment and brew different decks when only thing you see on the ladder is 45th monored, 32th boros enchants or another demon auto/lazy win spammer. The hell happened with this game.😢
@jangoeder893919 күн бұрын
It died right around the first Eldraine Set when they indroduced "Embercleave" - since then every set release came to the same conclusion: Mono Red first, 1 drops win. Never got away from this boring patterns again. They tried to "fix" that with auto win Decks like you mentioned. But as for you, this is not fun for me, it became just dumb mechanics combinded with luck.
@tobias97erdt19 күн бұрын
Hello Sloth, I know you like more uncommon/rogue builds. I myself build decks like that and currently have a build that I think is actually quite good (only real bad matchups being monored on the play and dimir midrange). Would you be interested in giving a jeskai storm deck a try?
@paulocampino504519 күн бұрын
19:44 You know shuffler is a sucker for Hollywood scripts. Two perfect top decks for the opponent because it was decided you were the villain that game. Jokes apart, this kind of stuff gets old fast and rarely happens in paper magic but in arena Bo1 is ever so often. It's like when hand hate your opponent and then they top deck the same card next turn. See it happen on stream and on my games, either when i play discard or when i'm on the receiving hand of it. Sometimes i consider giving up on Bo1 and go Bo3. Don't know if shuffler algorythm is the same but at least there is no hand smothing.
@TheAcad3mic19 күн бұрын
Yeah games mad rigged for sure. It's like when Casinos give people alcohol for free because they keep lining up to play. Shuffler gives and Shuffler takes away because the core trait of a magic player is addiction.
@paulocampino504519 күн бұрын
Even now finished a game where i duress three steps ahead from an uw control opp. Next turn i'm playing annex and get countered by another three steps ahead opp top decked. There was no other draw by opp besides his turn draw. The discard "bug" is real.

Yeyy,dragons. I really like them. I even tried to make other things dragons with the blue leyline. Tried to make overlords dragons,angels dragons,dragons demons...ehh. Too inconsistent. Then again,I haven't tried making dragons angels...I made a "dragon copying"deck,it's kinda nice,if I play smart and do not get greedy (I do lots of times,but almost always get punished for it...). Maybe stupid idea,but if we are dragoning,can we make something with Dragoncaller Rite (I think this is it's name) and Narset? It's seems interesting...at least,in my head (I have a very wierd head,soo) That mono black game was really awesome! I usually just concede,I just...uggh,I reaaaaaly hate playing against mono black.

I'm not super surprised, I haven't seen any Dragons version that was competitive so far, unfortunately :) So yeah, they are just not at power level of meta decks atm 🤷♂🦥❤
@Phox14618 күн бұрын
@@SlothMtg Ya, it's a real shame. It's hard to compete with a meta that can turn a creature easily give a monster over 7 power on turn 2. I started playing your older poison deck and started cleaning up though :D
@SlothMtg18 күн бұрын
@@Phox146 Yeah, pretty much non-mono red creatures need to pay twice the mana, for half the effect, that's why mono red/boros are so popular, they roll over other decks, so only defend is breaking their strategy (removal) as you can't go higher than them :) Wow, that's amazing, nicely done :D I know quite a lot of Bros hit Mythic with Dimir Toxic, so that would make sense :)
@Phox14617 күн бұрын
@@SlothMtg Didn't know how many people are going mythic with dimir toxic. Makes sense though, it took me to fairly easily diamond.
