I'm with you, I just love split pea soup and yours looks so very good. But ya know what, I have never made it in the crockpot, and how easy is that. I am going to do it and follow your recipe for it. On these very frigid cold snowy days, soup is the ticket. We just got 11 inches of snow overnight here in Michigan and it has been soooo cold. Thanks so much Tess. Many hugs your way... Claudia

Hi Claudia. Yea, we are expecting more snow tonight here in Pa. I am so over winter. This has been a tough one especially being older. Getting old is not fun! LOL! Take care.

I made this today in a regular pot and not using a slow cooker and it turned out amazing!! I also did not have any chicken broth so used 1 bouillon cube in its place. So delicious 😋

Gd'evening Tess. You're not going to believe this but I just picked up a bag of split peas on my last grocery run. I've been hungry for this soup for a few weeks now. The only difference between how I make it and yours is I like smoked ham shanks in mine and I wait till about 20-30 minutes before I'm ready to serve to add the split peas cause I like the coarser texture that gives and the split peas haven't cooked into cream. They do cook very quick too. In my area a lot of ppl cook it the same but take out about half the peas and blend them to get that creamy-(ness), like your family likes. I personally like biting into the peas. I'm totally convinced it's a Pennsylvania thing. Cause either you are already cooking something I'm getting ready to cook or I've cooked a meal that you end up posting within a few days and our cooking style and recipes are so very similar. I always get a chuckle when your posts show up in my feed and it's soo close to what I'm either planning to eat or have just eaten.😆 It feels like you're part of my family.💖🤗

Great minds think alike. LOL! Awesome. Totally Pennsylvania here and I'm sure you see it in my cooking. Thanks for sharing.

Looks nice, I use 2 ham hocks, home made stock made from beef bones and then I blend it up. Before I add the meat I take some out for my dog. (I don’t use salt or onions)
