Hits very different for me, cuz this song has history between me snd my boyfriend. We were banned from talking to each other, and we were best friends for years before that. I had one last call with him where we said goodbye, and i sent him slow dancing in the dark, telling him to think of me when he listens to it. That it'll be a reminder of how I'll still care for him from a distance. Years later, he reached out to me and we started talking again. We both missed each other so badly, and if im being honest, we both decided to keep going because neither of us wanted to have the other find out we were dead one day. Two years after ee reconnected, we started dating and its been the best experience i could have asked for. If he watches this video, i hope he knows i still think of him every time i hear this song, even though we have each other now. It's no longer a song of pain to me, now it feels like a part of our history, of our love story.

Growing up in a South Asian family, everything felt like it was planned out for me, like my life was stitched together from the hopes my parents had but never got to live. She was something else, you know? The kind of person who makes you feel like life could be different. She introduced me to things like Filthy Frank before Joji was even a name people recognized. She made me laugh, made me see a side of the world that didn’t feel so weighed down. For once, I didn’t feel like I had to live up to anyone else’s expectations. I just felt alive. But things change. She found someone else, someone who didn’t carry all the baggage I did, someone who could give her the freedom I never could. And I realized-she was always out of my reach. She was happy, smiling with him, and all I could do was watch from a distance, pretending it didn’t hurt as much as it did. It’s like a punch to the gut, realizing you were never what they wanted, just a part of their past they left behind. I hope she stays happy. I really do. And maybe it’s better this way-that I don’t fall for anyone again. Life keeps moving, and maybe some things are just meant to be memories. That’s all I’ll ever be to her now.
