This is a short video about the wool's way from a shorn sheep to a finished shawl. Don’t forget the sound, it starts after a few seconds. Share the video and subscribe to my youtube channel and my blog if you like it.

The music is an interpretation of an old Scottish folk tune, the Skye boat song

I guess you are an Outlander fan. There are a few flirts with the Outlander theme in the video. :) You can read about it here, waltin.se/josefinwaltinspinner/slow-fashion-2-and-outlander/

Wow such a gorgeous video! I'm impressed at the amount of love and patience that goes into preparing, cleaning, spinning and then the yarn dyeing, making garments and the gorgeous fabrics. Just an incredibly beautiful time consuming art craft. Thank you for sharing and teaching. These videos are so relaxing.

I love everything about this! Your pacing is perfect. I love the handspun yarns you used and am intrigued now to do a double weave project on my rigid heddle too! Your finished blanket is gorgeous.

Wow! You are so talented! Every step is executed just beautifully. Your hand spinning is unbelievable. Thank you for this beautiful film. I know I will watch it again and again as well as your other films. I don't speak Swedish, but I do speak German: ausgezeichnet und wunderschön!

Thank you for your kind words, Diane. It is really hot for May right now, about 27°C, but I'm wearing the shawl from the video and it feels so good. Wool is the best material. If you want to practice your Swedish, my first Slow fashion has an English and a Swedish version :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3LTfouYaM56gKs

I just don't understand quite how big families in the olden days had time to do this? I know in the wintertime, but was there shortcuts people used? Like for instance, couldn't you just spin thicker wool. And knit this socks with roving wool?

My guess is that they worked quite hard. People needed yarn for all sorts of textiles, so both fine and bulky yarn was needed. Roving wool socks would most definitely be worn out quickly. Sock yarn needs to be strong and durable.

Thank you! This was what I needed to get inspired again. I have so much ready to spin wool with no idea of what to make. Now that I have watched this video, I have several new ideas that I just wrote down. Can’t wait to get back to spinning again.

Lovely work, it would be nice next time to focus on what is going on at the top of your spindles. I would have liked to have read your writing without strain but the pace was too fast at that angle.

I make both documentary style videos and more instructive videos. This is a documentary style video where I show a whole process. So both the technique parts and the notes are just ways to show the steps in the process without going too deep. I have lots of other videos where I go deeper into technique in different spindle types. I hope you find something you like!
