Dear listeners, it seems as though this video is being blocked worldwide unless I remove the description (including the tracklist). I tried re-entering it after the first block and it was blocked again shortly after. I'm not quite sure what the offending word or phrase was, but for now the tracklisting will remain deleted (I'll pin it in the comments). Volume 1 seems to remain unaffected.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

In the early 80's, in San Francisco, the punk bands like Flipper, Dead Kennedys etc. would always have this heavy dub playing before the shows started. It was a beautiful juxtaposition of two very different but in so many ways similar music.

Both are "rebel" music. Dub is a form of Reggae and both Reggae and Punk were/are rebel music.

💖 Thank for this. I am Jamaican-American. When I was growing up, it was not popular among black folks to be Jamaican or to listen to reggae, here in the US on the East coast. When we visited my dad's family in JA, we would spend most of our time at my grandmother's home in the mountains. We would hear music from the dancehall miles away at night, and my cousins and I would be up, in the (dirt) road, dancing. I partially bonded with the UK punk movement because of its inclusion of ska and reggae. It was then that I found my tribe. Roots Rock Reggae.

I visited Jamaica many times in years ago when dancehall was the rage. Back inna the day, you would hear reggae in the country side from miles away from traveling sound'men'.. There was something pure and magnetic in that distant beat and harmony. All these years later, i yearn for it deep within me and miss the siren sound of them.

Really? Sometimes I'm tempted to say stuff like this, I'm born '63. The thing is this. As time goes, nothing great is lost. Not only do we have all the greatness from the fifties onwards, but we've got Grunge and Dub today. Not to mention the better versions of Rap etc. The only problem is humans still only have two ears and limited years.

I understand why you've made that statement, but.... This music was becoming so popular that society, and the musical hierarchy, wanted it subdued. It's as popular, and out-there, as ever but refuse to allow it on to the radio, and drive clubs that play it to close down...

Early 80s.. squatting, dancing and slumming in Key West... After a while a lot of bars did not like having reggae bands, the customers didn't buy much booze, just fruit juice and soda water, with frequent trips to the parking lot to smoke...it was a golden age down there..

This music, in the style of King Tubby and Jamaican roots reggae has influenced my musical style since I was a wee lad in the 70’s. As a working bassist and tubist, the rhythmic feel and sparse-simple parts have influenced my own approach of building bass lines and overall development of ear training. This is true-modern roots music; where you hear both urban and rural Jamaican rhythms and languages infused. 🧡🙏🎶

Dear listeners, I'm sorry that KZbin has now put ads in this mix. If I had a choice to disable them I would. There are many copyright strikes so any revenue generated is not going to me. I hope you can still enjoy it! At the time of writing this, Slow & Heavy Dub Volume 1 is still ad-free. Edit: there are plenty of good suggestions of ways to bypass the ads in the replies to this comment. And just to be clear, I have no problem with revenue going to the original creators of the music. The revenue generated here I believe is going to the label parent companies, who could very easily post the individual tracks (or groups of tracks exceeding 10 minutes) that they own themselves to make money from advertising, and leave mixes like this alone for the listeners wanting music and nothing more.

@@darkdeepred6577 isn't nostalgia even worse? It's an actual force stopping people from changing the world. I see it as a white flag, something totally anti-rebelious. We used to fight with the older generation and when we failed, we suddenly put the guilt on the younger generation. Now that's sad.
@KrzysiuNet

@@strangelove9608 as for the first - is it projection? Because you say what I think, but I don't think that. So yeah, that's sad. As for examples, I'm mostly involved in promotion of young NGO by helping them as a programmer and photographer - you can google my name and you'll get your answer. PS: also I'm not anarchoprimitivist - I don't have a clue how did you get that conclusion. Maybe because you don't understand what's nostalgia - you show me phrase which have nothing to do with it. As Wikipedia defines it: sentimentality for the past. It's not using past experiences, but sentimentality. It's not standing on shoulders - it's talking how giants were great, but now they are gone and everything's shit.

ive met people who can't stand dub,..after knowing them for longer,they all turned out to have 'mum' issues, there's a nurturing,womb texture to lekker dub,.a reminder of a simple time when two hearts syncopated,effortlessly.

yes, but if it was an electric bass, surely that could have engendered some water damage to the bass guitar, and even affect its playing. That does seem a rather careless thing for you to do. There are ample tutorials on how best to look after a bass guitar, as well as cleaning it properly.

Nice one! And kudos for not misrepresenting SCIENTIST as "the Scientist" (jeez...do folk refer to the rock legend from U2 as "The Bono"...or refer to the lead singer of The Police as "The Sting" ??? 🙄)

Thanks for this selection..Dub with love ..So much respect for the originals..This is not dub for dub sake .This is dub with respect. I loved the dub of this era..I spent much time in clubs, just skanking and smoking in the erly 80's. I was a "punk"..."I''m the the all night drug prowling wolf, i'm only looking for fun " ..White Man In Hammersmith Palais..The Clash..And the live bands..Misty In Roots ..Punk and Reggae, I lived for it ..It is not a fashion..It is belief..And without belief you are lost... Slow and Heavy Dub Volume 1 is thhe obvious next listen..Do It ...Thank you Deep Dark Red for posting .. O:-)

And what makes these riddims even better is as these were made the young dancehall artists were gravitating to the heavy dub riddims n deejays chanting pon them that’s what makes sound system sessions so great, deejays like josey wales, brigadier Jerry, Chaplin,supercat, early even down to the great ninja, these fellowes got the chance to learn original sounds to create their own.
