I use to go fishing with my grandfather when I was a kid. He would get drunk until he couldn't walk and let me drive the boat. He was also known to eat minnows for shock value

Really liked the video. Both exciting and relaxing at the same time without obnoxious loud music etc. Loved that you were teaching your daughter at the same time.

awesome video - great teaching skills and so much patience and credit for letting Scarlett do it for herself, WHere do you get the reels from and how much are they please? I'm in Auckland :-)
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
I got these from Japan, they work out to be around $400NZD, basically the IC means it has a line counter on it. Similar reels in NZ would probably be the Shimano Genpu
@IsraelTangaroaBirch2 жыл бұрын
Nice to see you fishing and teaching your daughter. Do you tie these to the mainline? I'll have to give it a go. Thanks
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
You need to use about a meter of fluorocarbon leader, connect braid to leader via FG knot
@jpickett7 ай бұрын
Great vid bro, where can you buy that baitcast rod and reel combo from in nz?
@FishoDavo7 ай бұрын
Thanks bro! The rod is an Ocean's Legacy Elementus PE1.5, can find it at Hunting & Fishing, Land & Sea, Yeehaa. Reel is a Kohga IC, I don't think NZ stocks it, I brought mine from Japan

Where are those jetski saddle bags from? They look handy

This one is actually a jetski handlebar bag, but my handlebar is too big so I attach it to the side like a saddle

Ah ok. Is it the GC handlebar bag?

hello, what gear ratio of the reel is the best for this type of fishing?
@FishoDavo9 ай бұрын
Slow ratio is good for this style as the skirts have a lot of action in the current. 4.8:1 is what I use.
@mysc102 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave what are the rod teathers you are using ?
@FishoDavo2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rodney, it's the Rob Fort Bungee Rod and Paddle Leash with Swivel Clip, you can find it on Marine Deals for $24.99, I've used this one for about 6 years now, have about 5 of them and all are still in good condition

Hi what’s the gear ratio for u recommend thanks
@FishoDavo Жыл бұрын
Hi, for Kabura / Slider (like in this video) I recommend low gear ratio 4.3:1 to 5:1. For Slow Pitch Jigging go faster 6.2:1 to 7.3:1
@andylee9497 Жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, what size braid and leader are you using, and the rod specs thanks
@FishoDavo Жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, it should be 25lb leader and braid, PE1.2. The rod is an Ocean's Legacy Elementus PE2

hey dave, shoud i cut the squid if i put it on the kabura hooks? or can i put a whole squid?
@FishoDavo Жыл бұрын
Cut the squid, you only need small slivers of squid on the small hooks. Nothing wrong with hooking big piece too but I don't find it necessary
@fatjack01 Жыл бұрын
Do you need to constantly replace the skirts?
@FishoDavo Жыл бұрын
Depends on a few factors, quality of the skirt, how aggressive the fish are feeding, striking the fish hard will increase the chance of ripping the skirt. Generally the skirt isn't expensive to replace, and if you're landing lots of fish it's worth the expense.
@jairusaudwin26058 ай бұрын
Do you use braid, how long is the leader?
