In the end, no amount of prepping for something will prevent it from happening. Alignment with the Earth is probably the best preparation we can have. Eventually, we all transform back into the energy we once were before birth into a physical form. I went for a slow walk today and just enjoyed the colors, smells, birds and other animals. Ultimately, just treating our fellow earthlings with kindness and love is what brings peace. ❤

I miss my forest. I live in more of a suburban area, however we had old woods in the back of our house. It was my peace place. I could always rely on that area, taking a walk through the brush, calming my senses. I grew up with the forest. This past week, construction cut down every single tree, a lot of them probably at least 100 years old or more. It is now completely barren. The only thing left are the wide stumps of my trees, and upturned dirt. I grieve for the land I remember, and it saddens me so much to see it all turned into dull, flat land. I am glad I can watch your videos, it is a walk in the woods that I can no longer do.

I decided yesterday to slow down and refuse to contribute to the crazy anymore.. I also live very far out in country no houses around and always have things to keep me busy outside … but I’m just gonna let it all go do what I can when I can .. please pray I find a job soon !!

Happy Saturday, Colette, How strange, that same thought struck me today. I was sitting in traffic, getting impatient, when it occurred to me that there wasn't anything I needed that couldn't wait until monday. So, I came home and decluttered in my bedroom. I had piles of papers that needed filing, and a pile of notes to myself to remember things (which was buried), and summer clothes that needed to be packed away, and summer sandals, and a bag of clothes for donation. Now my room is a much calmer space to be in, and I'm much calmer, too!

I agree with you Collette. I have enough too. When the pandemic first began, remember everyone bought toilet rolls and pasta? I don't eat pasta, and I had just bought a 9 pack of toilet rolls, I knew that was sufficient. I never ran out and there were plenty in the shops when I next needed them. Ditto the mythical 'petrol shortage'. Didn't bother to panic buy, and there was plenty when I needed it. Same with oil, I only use olive oil, plenty when I next needed some. A gardening acquaintance spent a small fortune on kilner jars to can his tomatoes. Being on a limited budget, I worked out the cost in time, fuel and jars, didn't bother. I do freeze runner beans, and I also dehydrate some things, but I don't have a fancy dehydrator. I use the oven, full of course and then leave tomatoes to dehydrate in residue heat. My old gran used to say, when offered seconds at a meal: "No thank you, sufficient is a feast" She was never greedy, or overweight. A lesson for us all.

Even as a child I’ve always found the so called holidays and associated chaos and enforced gaiety really puzzling if not downright weird. Celebrating the solstice makes sense. It’s real. It’s ancient. The rest of it is just a bizarre elaborate fevered commercialization of something that never happened nor ever even could have happened.

Yes to tealights in the window, bringing greenery into the house and cozy days, making gifts or gathering little collections of small things I know people will like in Yule and no to Christmas shopping. The antidote to uncertain times for me are the little rituals I remember going back in time that steady my ship and hopefully does the same for others and just being there in case someone needs some kind words. Thanks for showing me how you do this too in your very own way.

I am embracing slow living, as I do not go out, only to walk my dog, and I love our walks in the beautiful countryside right from my front door, here in Devon, England. I do not need to go into the shops, and be surrounded by all the people, and things, I can not cope with all that now. I love quiet times, just enjoying nature, and what is abundant around me here. I feel the spirits are in my home, as yesterday a lamp in my kitchen came on and went off all on it's own! I do feel that things are changing around us, and we need to slow down to take in what beauty there is in nature, and in our homes. Love and Blessings to you too xxx

Thank you for sharing those beautiful and important thoughts. Exactly what was on my mind these days. I went to a big supermarket in Bantry today, I think the last time was about 4 weeks ago. Now all the Christmas stuff moved in. But such plastic stuff, and so many candles with strong artificial odours. So poor yet so expensive! No inspiration, no artistry, no soul. A few candles, some twigs from the garden, maybe some hand crafted paper stars give much more atmosphere. And some organic orange essential oil on the stove. Less toxic for the environment and for humans, especially the little ones.

Colette, I'm seeing this in the wee hours of Nov 19th and as a woman living on my own acreage, I found your ideas comforting and calming. The "preppers" here in the U.S. would have us all lamenting that, as their political party took some hits this past week, we're all foolish if we don't prepare for inevitable worst-case scenarios. I have at times let those messages disturb my peace, when I am in no way obligated to do so. Thanks for the reminder.

I have been simplifying for over 15 years now. I started to realize that everything I buy for a "Season" then needs to be packed away and stored...taking up even more space in my life. My aim has been to limit my "seasonal" decorations to what can be contained within 1 box. My home looks baren compared to the "consumer driven vision" in the stores....but I have fallen in love with the simplicity. Now I have time to do the things I love, the baking for family and friends, the planning of the special meals. Now I don't feel the burden of the "Pressure" to create a scene out of a magazine! I am now calmer and more at peace. And if someone thinks to complain about my simple decorations I am confident enough now, finally, to tell them to decorate to their hearts content in their own home but to stop judging me for my choice.

My dogs to welcome me and the birds to feed and chirp at me!!! Totally agree with you Colette.....slow is the way to go!!!! Blessings and enjoy the weekend and woodland x

Family and friends will come home to share togetherness and we'll eat simple and delicious home-cooked food. And not a scrap of plastic, anywhere. This is everything! Real abundance! Real blessings! I went into Walmart yesterday, my country’s temple of consumerism, to fill a prescription. They were having their Black Friday sales, which usually falls on the day after our Thanksgiving, 2 weeks off. Everywhere I looked were racks of cheaply made toys, dolls & puzzles, all produced in China or India & destined for the rubbish bin before next year rolls around. Ironically, the countries who make these items are some of the least caring and charitable towards their own people.

A meander around my gardens or local woodland refreshes me after a visit to the local shopping centre, most days I get what I can in my own village.each time a shop closes, it is replaced with a cafe or sandwich bar, Most of us locals query how many does one small village need. Thankyou for this lovely calming video. Christmas for me as a child of the 50's was a magical thing starting as it did with the first Sunday of Advent. Over the years it seems to have become just a spend fest with shops going Christmas by the end of October! I haven't bought into this for decades. When the children were younger and still at home we made presents and just enjoyed the opportunity for family time. These days I don't bother with the commercial side of things and just look forward to a quiet day at home and perhaps a bit of lunch with my daughter. Lunch which for me has often been a cottage pie or just beans on toast on Christmases past. Slow living is something i have been able to practice much more since I retired and you are right whatever the problem or upset a bit of time outside works wonders for the soul.

Just wanted to say thank you for such a truly though provoking video about our need to feel secure in such uncertain times with the cost of living crisis biting, and the astronomical increases in energy prices that we will all have to incur, the shops have been full xmas things at the same time they were trying to flog us halloween, and i imagine if you bothered to look you would be able to find easter eggs can't tell you how beautiful and calming your wood land is ,pausing to consider and focusing on being grateful for less , using what we have and consciously not getting swept up in the frenzy that Christmas , has become maybe is a gift we can give to ourselves . Simple pleasure in releasing ourself from the self imposed pressure, many years ago I stopped sending xmas cards, which at the time raised a few eyebrows from work colleagues and family, I got fed up of them falling over and to me they are just a waste of money and of resourcesthe money was better served by being donated, that once I had opened them being honest I never looked at them again until it was time to take them down apart from curse when i had to pick up once they had fallen down for the 5th time in a row they were just an annoyance. I know lots of people really enjoy giving and receiving them , and to each his own, I just thought why , why am doing this and like you said sometimes you just need to step back and think for yourself.

I couldn't agree more. I've been chatting to myself about this on my channel of 2 viewers.

A much needed message in these times of fear! It's been my mantra this year to Go Inward and focus on myself and curate my life, weeding out what doesn't suit me and it's been freeing in so many ways. I spent most of the summer outside, either in my gardens or working on important projects. Getting away from social media also helped with not feeling fearful. I pay attention to my intuition and my souls urgings.

You explained this perfectly. We certainly are living in very unsettling times. We must stand United together. We really are going to have a lot less than what we have now, this is just the start.
