Slow Looking: Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians

Join us for the latest in our Slow Looking series, in collaboration with the Limina Collective. The practice of Slow Looking provides a unique opportunity for us to explore an artwork through the lens of mindfulness. Inspired by our current exhibition Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians at The Queen's Gallery, Palace of Holyrood House, this event will focus on Sir David Wilkie’s striking portrait of King George IV, the first reigning monarch to visit Scotland since Charles II.
In this event, Karly Allen from the Limina Collective will lead us through a relaxing and reflective hour of meditation, guided looking and journaling. Karly will also be joined by Palace Curator Emma Stead who will share some more detailed insights about the significance of George IV’s visits to Scotland and what the portrait can tell us about Scotland’s relationship with the Georgian monarchy.
