My Daughter and myself visited Windsor Castle a few days before Christmas. Queens Mary's Dolls House was the highlight of the whole day. It was enthralling and we took our time, trying to take in everything we saw. We walked around twice and still saw things we'd missed on the first go round. What a marvellous work of art this is - a masterpiece no less. I wanted to play with it or live in it. Where's Alice with her shrinking mushrooms when you need her 😊

This would be a very interesting video if the music was a bit more tasteful. It's nice that the volume is lowered when the presenters are speaking but as soon as they stop speaking the music suddenly becomes was too loud and it has a pounding tempo. I wanted to continue watching the video but the manner in which the music was showcased drove me away.

What a beautiful presentation, well done! I read somewhere that the doll house boasts a wine caller with miniature bottles contains a few drops of vintage wine! 🍾

I believe that what is now the crimson, white and green drawing rooms were a series of smaller rooms, probably bedrooms and sitting rooms that were decorated in the Baroque style during the reign of King Charles II. There are some rooms in the same style in the state apartments. The construction of the Grand Corridor for George IV meant that walls had to be removed from those rooms, and the semi state apartments were constructed then, and the state dining room.

This is wonderful! What has always fascinated me were the rooms in the Castle which have been in use and so often re-imagined over the last 1 000 years. I've always wondered what the White, Green and Red drawing rooms were like in the time of Edward II or Elizabeth I, for instance. Today they are so beautiful, but centuries ago they must have been used in their original stone appearance. If only those walls could talk!

Support our people? Nah let’s build crowns, suits of armor, castles, etc. support the opulence of the royal family? No problem. Cover ups & lies for decades to cover the “royals” misdeeds? Normal business. Hanging out w Epstein on his island? Normal “royal” business United Kingdom reminds me of Mexico

Not so bad, but in the whole room too many colours are used all in all.

Such is the quality and attention to detail, one could be touring through a real house. It’s only when a gloved hand is seen, that it is apparent that it is a doll’s house. Stunning.

The amount if work this meta royal doll house in micro scale took is simply staggering and equally rather disturbing. Mary was obsessed with things. Objet d'art was never safe with her around. Her Majesty was a little klepto to boot. A rather greedy Queen with an odd need to see the world as a dollhouse. Maybe we are all in dollhouses of somekind?

My doll house was made of cardboard with cardboard furniture which was covered in scraps of cloth left over from my mother and grandmother's sewing. Cardboard, fabric, glue, Popsicle sticks, jewelry chain , child's paint set and some imagination. It probably cost less than $10 to make but in was priceless to me.
