Slow Speed Diesel Engine at 670 1/min Einzylinderdieselmotor 2

Huge 3,4 Liter slow Speed Diesel Engine during show at Lammertzhof in Kaarst. This engine is from TOPLAND in India. As you can see, it is a further developement of a Lister engine.
The single cylinder engine has direct injection, 18 HP @ 750 RPM. Only.
Displacement 3,4 liters, 207 cubic inches.
Bore 155 mm, stroke 177.8 mm. Aluminum piston.
Engine weight 565 kg, 1245 lb.
Drives a 12 kW synchronous generator.
The pulley is calculated to run the engine at 670 RPM @50 Hz. The internal governor is adjusted to that speed.
Engine has thermosyphon cooling. We use a barrel with 200 liters of water . The video was taken at the beginning of the show. The temperature of the water rose during the day to 90 deg C out and 65 deg C back to the engine.

Echt super diese Motoren ( Langhuber) geringe Drehzahl und nicht kaputt zu kriegen......ausserdem genialer Motorsound und relativ geringer Dieselverbrauch....echt super !!!

Agreed, if Indian companies got their act together and controlled quality they would be a force to be reckoned with. Some sectors of British manufacturing had quite a bad reputation for quality control during the 70's as well.

Wenn man jetzt noch eine Abgaswärmerückgewinnung einplanen könnte wäre das ganze noch Umweltfreundlicher (Wie ich gehört habe , kann der Motor nach Vorwärmung mit Diesel mit PÖL laufen )

QUALITY CONTROL COULD BE POSSIBLE IF PURCHASER MIGHT UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION OF MFG. AS THEY SURVIVING BY GIVING QUALITY PARTS IN SUCH A CHIP RATE. IF YOU WANT QUALITY THAN PURCHASER HAS TO GIVE BEST RATE.

750 rpm is considered medium speed. A low-speed diesel is 300 rpm maximum. Medium is 300-1000 rpm and a diesel engine that is designed to work and rev over 1000 rpm is a high-speed diesel engine. Furthermore, I have trouble believing that the teeny-tiny belt shown in this video could handle transferring 18hp between this motor and the electrical (generator?) equipment seen beside it for more than about 45 seconds. Shown here at virtually no load, it seems to be fine, but load that thing up and ramp up the engine's power output, say goodbye to that little belt.

I don't see that "fractional horsepower belt" conveying 18 horsepower. The engine speed was not set to produce 50 Hz, by my eye.

According to the meters 1.1 kW is being used. The frequency is 48Hz. The engine is running at 643 RPM. So, running a little too slow and with a very low load. How does it run with, say 10 kW load?
