This is honestly the only useful video to teach proper shifting on KZbin. I watched it a few years ago when I got my first street bike. Now I’m on my second and I’m revisiting because my new bike is a little different and I want to brush up my knowledge.

I recently failed the motor officer school and I was not able to master the handlebar lockout. Even at a full stop with the handlebars locked in one direction, as soon as the bike started to roll the handlebars would straighten out despite my efforts. I'm sure it was mental and me not being able to commit due to my fear of dropping the bike, which I ended up doing anyway. I'll keep practicing and I definitely see motor officers in a different light now knowing how hard the course is. Thanks for your videos.

This stuff is not easy so don't get discouraged. The video I did on the 90 degree pullout will have the answer to what you were doing wrong. After watching it let me what you think.

I recently got back into riding after a 16 year hiatus. I quickly learned the skill I lost the most was slow speed maneuvers. I want to say thank you for creating these videos. I will be using your instruction to work on becoming a better operator.

Paul, thanks. If I lock'em, I usually won't back off. But anything short of a full lock means that in that moment, I lack total confidence, and backing-off usually will happen. (2019 Road King)

I found myself doing this. I go to lock and just ease off a little. I keep yelling at myself to stay at lock LOL. Just more practice. Plus I'm learning to control a Goldwing with a DCT as well. Different animal using the rear brake to control the clutch action.

Does changing gears early damage the engine? I just bought a 150cc 4 stroke dirtbike and I sometimes forget in what gear Im in so I change the gear early and it happens a lot. So Im wondering when it collects the rotations does it damage the piston and engine itself

Paul, thanks again for your time and effort with great videos. I'd like to say that after riding for only about 2.5 years now, or about 2,000 miles, I can say that I rarely turn my handlebars at all. For example in a cul-de-sac I find I'm usually leaning the bike rather than turning the bike w/handlebars. Maybe I'm turning them some without realizing it. Is this bad that I'm apparently avoiding turning my handlebars? Am I afraid to turn them? Thanks for any thought or tips!

There will be times when you will have to turn the handlebars especially when making turns at slower speeds like in a parking lot. It is common for us not to want to turn the handlebar. Check out this link to a video I did on why I think we have a hard time with it. Let me know what you think kzbin.info/www/bejne/iV67g3eMfZWDoq8
