A straight 40 doesn’t translate to the league. It’s cool to watch but lateral quickness and reaction time are so much more important. Half of “fastest 40s” aren’t even in the league anymore

40 yard dash is important but people make it bigger than what it is the only one to focus on for the 40 is dbs mainly cornerbacks everybody else should get a little pass mainly lineman.

Ghobi Echo sure, players from all different weights can get hurt and are injury prone. However, you can’t tell me that him being 170 pounds in the nfl doesn’t put him at a greater risk for injury.

It's pointless having linemen run 40 yard dashes. Like any of them are gonna run a 4.3 and be switch to a running back or a receiver.

It shows athleticism. If you weigh 300+ pounds but can run a 40 in under 5 seconds you’re a freak.

@@christophershanklin112 It could be because of stride, a shorter person or person with shorter leg gotta move faster to cover more ground. Reason why TEs could cover more distance but look like their running slower than a 5'10 running back

1:06 I played against Curtis in high school, he was a RB then and he was also running a 4.31 back then, I never seen a man run so fast in my life he actually looked like he was skating (John Ross must look like he's hovering), since I only played OL I could only watch from the sidelines as he tore our defense apart, they sat him by the time the 3rd quarter started and we lost 40-0, he scored like 4 TDs in a half on our defense and it was one of the best in the city.

Should break it up by position instead of overall. We know rb/wr will always own fastest times and lineman the slowest. Put up top 5, bottom 5 each position

Always think about what could’ve been with Keith Marshall. He was actually the #1 RB coming out of high school AHEAD of Todd Gurley. Once they showed up at Georgia, Keith got hurt and gurley shouldered the load and the rest is history. Hope he’s doing well

Keith Marshall ran 4.31 at 220. Most of these guys are less than 190, Parris Campbell 205. Guys that run over 5.5: Looks like most of them just didn't train for it or should have never gotten a combine invite.

I wish they tracked their top speed. Usain Bolt got up to 28 MPH at his top speed...the fastest ever recorded. I would imagine the guys running around 4.3 are getting up to 23-24 MPH.
