Cincinnati Bell Fioptics is looking to be highly unreliable. This speed test was done to show the difference between what Gigabit internet looks like during peak hours. 5pm 12am

Update 11/12/17 Over the past year, CB addressed a technical issue. Speed and reliability have increased quite well. I switched to the 300 Down/75 Up plan due to the higher cost of gigabit. Speed tests today showed 330 mbps down and 18 mbps up.

That is completely unacceptable and if you can try to get a refund if they don't then I would file a complaint about their service to the FCC

i have had problems with them too i have the same thing supposed to be a gig for cincinnati bell and it was at 76mbps instead of anywhere near gig i called and they did a test and the people are supposed to be calling me tomorrow about it and i just got this like two days ago

I recently switched from TWC to CB and for the first few days the download rate was amazing. The past 6 weeks or so have been pretty sad to say the least. You only get a good connection in the AM, anything during peak hours in the evening is dsl speeds. I pay for a Gigabit service but I only receive about 5-10 MB/s download at night. So if you work 3rd shift and stay home during the AM you might benefit from Fioptics, otherwise don't let them fool you. The gigalife as they call it is a scam. Until they take the necessary steps to increase their capacity you won't see any of the speeds they advertise when you actually need to use it.

thats ridiculous.thats a very poorly configured network. i mean thats a network that has completely broken down during peak hours.gigabit looks like its just for marketing purposes.

Are you on wifi or hard wired? They are installing this in my neighborhood and I'm thinking about switching. I have time Warner turbo boost now.

+billn911 I have the whole house hard wired with a Gigabit modem, switches, and Cat6 (same setup I had with TWC worked great). I recently switched from TWC because Fioptics looked way too good and I will say when it works, it is awesome. A few people on Facebook got together and started talking with CB reps through e-mail etc. & from what I'm told , the slow data is due to them rolling out Fioptics faster than they anticipated. They just weren't equipped to deal with the high amount of traffic in the evening.

After months of varying speeds (most of which never go over 300mbps download & average 50-100mbps) I have changed my subscription to the 300mbps plan. Might as well pay for the lower speed if that's all they are capable of providing.
