Goodbye 5 Drawer Cart by US General at Harbor Freight

Thanks I just received my new US General 2023 series 2 5 drawer tool cart. It’s in the grey color and u was able to get it at $189.00. Can’t wait to build it it’s sitting in my garage as my Christmas gift. I will be watching your video a few more times for tips. Thanks for the update ❤️👍

Still my favorite purchase (I've bought 3 but one for a vet giveaway) my first was blue but I really love that gray with the black accents. You won't be sorry you watched the "10 assembly tips" video especially when you get the uprights correct the first time. Ask me how I know LOL

Good video Dale. It would be nice if HF would mill about 1/16 from the top of the 4 vertical angle braces, then roll the metal on the right and left side, (facing the cart) to match the 4 supports to help hang a side box if you want. I’m curious too about the conversion to have all 4 castors swivel. Just my 2¢ worth, you have to be real careful if your cart is close to something. Since the conversion I feel I’ve lost some control of the cart. It seems to want to wander. I may actually change it back.

I recently got a post referring to the series 3 that the box support brackets have been changed so it is not possible to mount them incorrectly. Harbor Freight may have changed the design as you spoke to but I doubt it. I've never been a proponent of mods that increase the weight of the cart. IMHO it reduces the weight safety margin between the weight of the box and the max load of the wheels. Not to mention it makes the box more unruly to move around. I agree with you about the all swivel casters and have noticed that it sometimes allows the box to move unpredictably on its own. I just use my cart for my own work. It's more practical for me to be able to maneuver it back into the space where I park it with all swivel casters. The best combination is what works (and is most safe) for the owner of the cart. Thanks for the Video & Info. Just got mine before the store closed . Bummer the new drawers will be awesome, for rolling around working on stuff just grabbing anywhere on drawer would be optimal.. I can add my own grommet n power strip, not missing much in that department.

The new latch is like the full bank cart. If you check it out you may not like it. It feels cheap and rattles. I made a video about using a piece of wood dowel to wedge the latch open so you don't have to mess with it while you're working. Best part is you can just remove the dowel and everything works as it should. Congratulations and here is my top 10 assembly tips video. I would think so. While HF isn't in Europe they don't own the manufacturer that makes this cart. The link below is my video that has a section of "imposters" that I found on Amazon. I may be an outlier here… but I *LOATHE* the new latch style, it feels so cheap compared to the Series 2 latch.

I first saw the new latches on the full bank cart. While it does address the the latch issue that's a common complaint with the series 2 5 drawer cart I will have to admit that it is a miss. The plastic ladder feels flimsy, loose and I bet it rattles like crazy when being moved. As if the 5 drawer doesn't have enough rattling issue

I will certainly leak it if I get any info. The changes to the other Series 3 boxes was significant but not so much with the inbound 5 drawer. I don't believe that there will be a major increase in the current price of a Series 2. Thanks for watching

Clickbait but; getting a better product that gives up nothing for the Series 2 is also an upgrade. Along the lines of receiving a Chevy 427 vs a 396 BB Chevy V8; few of us would gripe.

I am no real insider at HF but I feel like they released the full bank which they are now calling series 3 early so that they could test the waters on replacing the five drawer tool cart. I don't think that it made as big of impression as they thought it would Plus it was too expensive. So I think they just decided to keep it.
