Awesome job Elvis . I'm a slug shooter from way back . I'm glad you used a slug gun with sights on it . If a guy is testing slugs with a bead sight on it .... well , I take it with a grain of salt . With some testing , you should get a 4 inch group at 50 with the Lee slug . I started out with the Eazy peezy as you call it . They shoot pretty good .

There is the possibility that the driving bands on the are variable in thickness. A thick band could deform the slug adversely. Causing separation and tumble.

my experience with 7/8 key drive slugs has been excellent. My set up is powder, 15ga nitro card, AA wad, 2x16ga card, slug, crimp. 5" group at 50. The slug works like a badminton birdy. Let it. Still working on my powder charge but this was a half assed attempt

Elvis, I hope you find a cure for the Lee key drive slugs inaccuracy, many have tried many different combinations to improve its accuracy predictability. I believe what you stated is the truth "European's have found out what works because they live in countries where obtaining a shotgun is easier than obtaining a rifle" and that is all they have. So, back to the Lee slug, we haven't needed to cast slugs, we have rifles for what we need. anyway.. Good luck and hope you find a combination of slug/wad that works. -Dave

interesting that you are getting the same size groups with a smooth bore that I'm getting with a Rifled barrel. For me hotter loads print better 1800+ fps a 5 shot group may be 4” with a flyer ruining it. Looking forward to you testing at 100 yards!

Have you tried attaching the slug to the wad with some sort of epoxy or cyanoacrylate? I have always heard the Brenneke slug is believed to be more accurate due to their locking the slug to the wad so that it flies like a badminton shuttlecock.

I know reloaders do ladder tests on their powder, and also seating depth ladder tests. I wonder if that would apply for shotguns too? (Having a slightly longer or shorter wad)

Elvis, Love your channel man, but! Number one, you were shooting a shotgun not a rifle. Number two, please shoot another control group with the same rounds as that rickety bench bench is useless. Number three, I can't buy into your own loads and their grouping due to the aforementioned bench. For any kind of accuracy testing you need to be seated and have a rock steady rest. Before any viewers scream at me, full-disclosure. I owned an ammunition company from 1985-1999 and have fired by over a million rounds in my lifetime. Couple that with being a scout-sniper in the service and the sniper on the S.W.A.T. team I know of what I speak. Elvis I really like your content but find a better way to bench a firearm no matter what type. Stay safe everyone.

I was waiting on someone to call me out on the rifle comment. I was having a lot of fun with that. But of course you probably know that. Definitely respect your experience. I have however went above and beyond with the scope and bipod. I know that you don’t know what I seen in my scope. But all of my shots were very steady shots. With that said, some of the things you mention have always drove me crazy. Shooting for accuracy, people standing and shooting or 100 yards with a red dot. Some folks are way more capable than I am but I can’t see that far let alone make an accurate shot. You probably know what I mean. For a 50 yard shot with a clear seven power scope I felt like each shot was good. Bipod on the front sand bag on the back. I could definitely do better though and if I was shooting further I would definitely not cold this good. But I certainly welcome any advise From experience 100% Hope you comment again

Yes I knew you were having fun with the rifle comment, it was all over your face! I used to love interrogating people like you that were easily read. Your facial expressions tell how much you like what you are doing. And even though I am 69yrs old I still see great. God gave me 20/05 vision at birth, now I test between that and 20/10 so I'm still hanging in there in my advancing age. If you look behind yourself at the end of the tape you can see on the fourth limb, near the top on the right side a fly on the leaf, on the back of the fly is a flea! Need I say more? (Lol) Love what you are doing sir, keep at it.
