From episode 11 of Let the Record Show, Slug of Atmosphere speaks on Prince's 1982 classic "Do Me", which was sampled by 2Pac on "To Live & Die in L.A." Slug reveals that he was into early 'Pac during the Digital Underground era, but realized he outgrew his music by the time "Me Against the World" came out.

@Fuck You I mean yeah, his rhymes are abstract. He definitely has a different style. But, he has some tracks that he flames. I am not a huge fan, but I dig some of his stuff. Had a friend put me on him. He can free style for days. Why are you watching his video???

I don't know why I am so late to seeing this, but here is what I will say. I think the appreciation for Prince and how much he was a part of peoples lives through music is recognized by us all. I also think Slug as an Artist has his own natural style of his art. I think it's great that he said his honest truth how much he appreciated others but knew what his flavor of the art that truly intrigued him. Real recognize real but kept it real.

Honestly Pac is the first artist that got me into listening to rap/hip hop back in the 90's. My oldest sister borrowed and let me listen to "me against the world" album. Slowly got into underground hip hop after that. Been hooked ever since. Much love to Slug too, been to a couple of your shows. You put on helluva dope concert

Mad props to be brave enough to say an artist is not for you at a certain level. How many teenage girls are out there saying Kendrick Lamar speaks to them. This is a bold statement from Slug.

Teenage girls saying Kendrick speaks to them really isn’t that outlandish. The guy has made several songs from the perspective of teenagers & women, or that deal w/ issues that both men & women face.

Objectively great, but Slug just has his personal feelings about it. He knew it wasn't the sound he was going to build up, so he didn't want tupac to influence him further.

@@lyricsanonymous9036 I've tried listening to his music believe me. My girlfriend likes his lil' soft rhymes. But if he's gonna be saying stupid sh*t like - Tupac didn't talk to me . He's not only showing disrespect for the legend that's 100 times more influential and 100 times deeper than he is, but he's also showing how limited his Hip Hop knowledge and versatility is. With that said, his rhymes put me to sleep and at this point his voice straight annoys me. Slug just doesn't talk to me...

@@man1theyoungshaman There's no disrespect, and he's not saying he didn't feel everything Pac did...infact, he said he was a fan of his earlier work. The point is,, is that when it got to All Eyez on Me, that it wasn't for him. It was much more gangsta than his previous work. Slugs not a gangsta, and he ain't gonna front like that. His lack of hip hop knowledge? 😂 Homie, he's a very knowledgeable dude, stop playin. Pac is obviously much more influential, but 100 times deeper is just straight up crazy. The cool thing about Slug is that he'll say something that sounds mad elementary, yet when you really listen to what he says...it has layers to it. Mad weird you say "lil soft rhymes", cause you do realize Pac wasn't hard 24/7, right? Any way, I ain't gonna change your mind. It's mad clear you got a bias, that's cool though...he ain't for everyone. I like his early work, but haven't fucked with him in about 15 years. Peace

@@man1theyoungshaman My bad, thought he meant AEOM. Yeah, that is mad weird, cause that's Pacs best album 🤔 Idk, I been a hip hop head since '88, and I'm not a big Pac fan...definitely wouldn't say I'm unknowledgable on hip hop, quite the opposite. I like some of his stuff, but I'm not big on his production or his delivery. I'm a NYer, so gravitate more towards Rakim, Masta Ace, G Rap, Nas, Tribe, The Beatnuts, Black Thought, Guru, Biggie, ect... I fuck with West Coast, but I prefer tge underground. Blackalicious, Planet Asia, Del the Funky Homosapien, Locksmith, Aceyalone, Jurassic 5, ect...as opposed to the G-Funk/Gangsta shit
