@@bns434 No but I wind up driving along the river looking. All the good spots looked like I would wake up with my head blown off though because Texas is hard core like that and some of the urban rancher people there are insane. I did find a nice lake near Houston though and camped I was surprised how there was hardly anyone out there for how close it was the the 4th largest city in the country

Just ran across your vid. Throw out the first inches of dirt, gravel, and what. I have been through what you are doing. Dig deep into all the cracks you can. You foud lead! Keep going down, gold is heavier. Sure you know by now. I dig the cracks till I have a big pan full, then do it again. Fun stuff!

Hey thanks for the effort, I get dizzy really easy, I think they call it fixed vision or something. I tried the 😊best I could but once you out the camera on your head it was like I was on the cups and saucers ride at the carnival. I thought you might want that input from awhimppy guy! Lol thanks

Is there somewhere along the river there in Castell I can set up a tent for a night? I'm here from Washington state working a job in Sweetwater and there is laterally nothing to do in this town. Anyways if you could recommend a spot to pitch a tent for a night I would appreciate it. I'm clean about camping and will leave the site cleaner than when I found it. Thanks

I’m afraid I don’t know, I’ve actually been wondering the same thing. I usually just drive down there for a day trip. I’m only about 3 hours away. There is the llano state park, but that’s not castell

I guess I'll have to just go and look in person but on Google Earth I zoomed into a couple spots that might work for camping but I still need to go onto the tax assessor site for the area and match the property to the parcel so that way I know if there is a landowner first. I'm also probably going to look at the Llano state park as well. But cool thanks then

Take a drill with a concrete bit to stir the dirt. Will losen it up real quick. I use this technique when I'm fixing plumbing here in West Texas.

I’ve never camped there but you might look into the slab. Idk anything about it except seeing it online and in videos. There’s also llano state park.

My best outing on the Llano river was during a GPAA Round Rock outing near Llano where I came away with .2 grams of gold. Most of the gold is flour size and is best to run your concentrates through a miller table cause you might miss it in your pan.

I’d say anywhere you can get on the river between mason and llano. Some of the comments on this and my other llano video say that it’s better closer and south of llano. It’s a pretty far drive for me so I haven’t had a lot of exploration time down there. Maybe some of the gpaa guys on here can give you some good advice. I’m more of a wing it kinda guy.

No just make sure you stay in the river bed. Don’t go up any creeks or anything

@@Johnnyboy899 because the riverbed is public land. Most of the creeks are private property. I’m sure there’s some that are considered navigable streams, but unless you know which ones it’s best not to risk trespassing.

You could probably take a Greyhound bus to Austin and then start walking northwest about 80 miles to Llano from there, it's probably about a 2 or 3 day walk depending on how much you are carrying and your fitness level. I would recommend going in early spring or late fall as it will be 100° or more during much of the summer.

I haven’t managed to, I ended up there on a fishing trip during the summer by accident, but didn’t have time to do any gold hunting. I do intend on moving to another spot next time I go. I have no computer at the moment though so I can’t edit any videos. I did have some great footage from cache creek on my old computer. Hopefully I can get it off of the hard drive when I get a new computer.

@@TimsWildOutdoors I've lived in that area for many years. Kingsland, marble falls, horseshoe bay, blue lake. I've fished that place so many times. Actually caught a 7 lb large mouth on a salamander on a campground in kingsland a few months ago. I take a trip up every few months. Let me know if you ever want to do some gold hunting.

You are supposed to put water in the bucket so your gold goes to the bottom of your bucket that what I do

It’s probably not in the video but I did put water in the bucket. I had to in order for the classifier to work. If I remember correctly I think I just dumped the excess water off before I started sluicing.
