Shit, I didn't know Dilla flipped this sample too. I've heard Pete Rock flip it for "Mind Blowin'", and that was on another level. This remake is nice, but it's missing the swing that makes Dilla's beats bounce. Without it, it sounds like a demo version of Pete Rock's flip, which isn't a bad thing, if we're being real.

That swing at 0:11 does sound really cool to me, other parts sound a bit more straightforward to me but that can be a cool way to make the more odd moment stand out. Dilla's Bullshit has this really cool moment with the kick and bass too, it's like you're getting pushed and pulled around by the change in swing. Kind of a side note, but I've been playing around with BPM automation to change the swing of samples set to the bpm themselves, without having to resort to chopping well-defined chunks, it's really cool what you can do with that, especially if you're sampling odd meters into 4/4 where the strong/weak relation can be off. You can just resample those samples with their swing changed if you want a stable bpm in your overal project, there's some limitations if you don't do that, but it can work well either way.
