How To Drink

4 жыл бұрын

Today I'm making Slurm, Fry's favorite insect secreted soft drink. It's Highly Addictive!
Like everyone on Earth I'm a pretty huge fan of Futurama, so it was only a matter of time before I dove in and made some Slurm (I was pricing out Klein Bottles too at one point). Now, my Slurm is decidedly alcoholic, though I do present a rather tongue in cheek answer to the problem of creating a booze free version if that's your thing (it's a very simple one step process). Slurm, as everyone knows, is intensely sweet and highly addictive and created by a giant interstellar slug. My Slurm is pretty sweet, maybe addictive, and not created by a giant interstellar slug, but two out of three ain't bad, right?
Slurm
1 oz. or 30 ml. Honey Syrup
1 oz. or 30 ml. Lime Juice
1 oz. or 30 ml. Midori
1.5 oz. or 45 ml. Light Rum
2 Dashes Bitterman's Elemakule Bitters
Shake & Strain
Top with club soda
Slowly but surely, I'm starting a mailing list so that I'm not fully dependent on YT's algorithmized notifications system. If you'll sign up, I promise not to abuse your generosity, or sell your info to anyone. It's over on the blog right here:

Here's an even better non-alcoholic Slurm recipe: 1 part Mtn Dew, 1 part Surge (alternatively two parts Dew or two parts Surge, but not both), and one part monster. There you have it.

@ᕼᗴY! ᕼᗩᐯᗴ ᗩ ᘜOOᗪ ᑎIᘜᕼT. I mean it obviously isn't irrelevant you felt the need to comment on my little message from 6 months ago inside of someone else's comment. Also people around the world are allowed to stand and talk about what they want to talk about and what they believe in, so why in the world do I have to shut up? No one has to listen and I don't expect anybody to, but does that mean that I should not speak? I think not! I can admit that I do think I went about things the wrong way 6 months ago, but it is still important for me to tell him that Jesus Christ loves him, and has his back regardless of what He thinks so that should something come up in his life or something like that he knows he can run to somebody who will listen and not judge at all. For the Lord has come to save the world period. As long as I have life in this body I will speak about Jesus Christ because his crazy love has changed me and I want all people to know how crazy his love is for them, no matter where the find themselves in life. This is the path that I have been called too by the Lord. I wish you all the success in the world brother I hope that you have a great week, and honestly a great rest of the year. I pray that and some point in your life you may experience the Lord and taste and see that he is good! God bless you!

“There is nothing naturally green” I _HIGHLY_ encourage you to explore pandan leaves. It may seem hard to get ur hands on but it’s pretty easy if you have an Asian market near you. It provides a really interesting exotic flavor and it’s absolutely delicious (especially with coconut) usually you make a tea out of it by just boiling it however be careful with this since it can get very strong and very bitter very quickly.

Actually I would be super interested to see if you can reverse engineer Mountain Dew or a cocktail that evokes its flavor. I just recently after drinking one realized that... it didnt taste like anything I've ever encountered. After doing some digging, the company intentionally keeps the flavor vague and feel uncomfortable even naming the color of the drink (neon is what they relecutably said, which barely counts). The general opinion people have is that it is grapefruit-based. It would be amazing if you could give it a go!
@KelvinSuddith
@KelvinSuddith 4 жыл бұрын
This! What an amazing idea. There’s definitely some grapefruit flavoring with other flavors. I wonder if altering Squirt’s flavor into Mountain Dew would make it easier to base the actually recipe off?

@@KelvinSuddith Its just diluted orange soda with a lot of sugar and a dash of citric acid. I'm serious. I made "Mountain Dew" with my soda stream All it took was a small amount of orange extract , a lot of sugar and a dash citric acid ( I got it from a vitamin store.) The overload of sugar and the tartness of the citric acid almost hides the orange flavor. Its one of the simplest sodas to make.

@@conman1395 When mountain dew first came out , the can had a cartoon of a hillbilly on it and it was advertised as a "healthy" soda ,it was loaded with vitamin C, had real orange juice in it and no caffeine. It had a lot of sugar , but not as much as other sodas. Pepsi-cola bought it , switched to high fructose corn syrup ( a lot of it ) and added caffeine. Turning it into the most highly caffeinated and diabetes inducing soda in America. Because if it ain't killing you , it isn't a Pepsi-cola product. Edit: When I realized my auto correct turns "Coca-Cola" into Coca-cola. Re-edit: It did it again Re-re-edit, I just found out it had already been around for awhile as a whiskey mixer before it was introduced in my area as a "health(ier) soda" just before Pepsi-cola bought them. @@sentath try a mix of room temp gelatin or reduced agar agar. Maybe both with a thicker simple syrup to add viscosity/roll to the mixture (on their own they may get chunky, well mixed with syrup it could resemble ink). As far as black coloring goes, maybe a touch of activated charocoal powder would be acceptable. It is occasionally used in culinary circles though I personally am not fond of it (too much and it carries a flavor). Alternative: maybe Acai, blueberry, or blackberry reduction? The last one gives more purple but mixing the three you might be in business (German blackberry liquer reduction could also work. That one I do have experience with and it gives a decent black coloration)

What is mountain dew? Green orange juice. Or atleast, orange juice is one of the main ingredients. It has citric acid, which is responsible for the lemon/lime citrusy taste, but it is predominately orange juice. I feel most of its flavor actually comes from its color, which is very strange.
