I think she looks great. The helm position is not an issue as you rarely had steer anyway. The position is good if you want that wind in the hair experience or docking. The bow needs a seat but I am guessing that they will come, the slight reverse on the bows is attractive, the boat looks well thought out with good hand holds and amazingly good centralised control lines, it looks a little rough around the edges but being hull number one I would have expected it to be worse. The price seems fair and I would get this over a 4X any day. My only issue is where do you put the solar panels, I guess on the davits.

I think the design (except for helm) is as good as Gunboat altho not a fan of the interior colors

As a whole it looks good. A couple of concerns off the bat. In the engine compartment it was a bit messy with wires not attached. At the bow two hatches were opened not sure if anyone noticed. It would seem that the fiberglass wasn't finished correctly. You will soon know when you have to slide in. Also the fitted cupboard in the shower area didn't have a finished look at the back of it. Plus it seemed to have a water seal around the door. It looked very much like draft stop. That type of tape on crap you buy for a front or back door of a house. Not sure about this one. Only my opinion

Pretty cat, but you can't see a thing from the helm station if you're under six feet and the dagger boards are placed to far aft.

I liked the cabin layout, would have preferred gas for cooking, I thought the engines too small for size of boat and would have much preferred Yanmar's to Volvo's.

Electric tends to bring down the insurance a fair bit. Some people prefer gas some prefer electric but when it saves you thousands on insurance electric wins by miles.

The helm set-up is horrible for a boat like this, who wants to out in the elements way in the back of the boat with that kind of seating!

Robert Kimbrough... it's a performance based boat and the best place to sail from as such is at deck level and where can watch the sails ans feel the changes in the wind. If you have the helm on a fly bridge it exaggerates any movement of the boat and also raises the mast height which increases the boats center of gravity. There is also a in salon nav station from where you can run the boat using the autopilot if the conditions are bad.

Dont buy it if you cannot handle riding of a storm from that steering position. This is where you feel the boat best. Great for SAILING if you take it in manual for pleasure, otherwise its in auto.

in many ways this boat were probably designed to appeal to monohull sailors who want a fast cat that they are comfortable in, there are other brands that fit the sailing RV market better.

People used to buy sailboats to soak in the sun!! Obviously you are no going to sit at the helm when cruising in the open ocean, but for sailing on a weekend or casual racing which is what most sailors do is perfect.

Not heard of this manufacturer, obviously going for luxury, performance market. No doubt well over £1m. However for that money manufacturers need to look at what FP and Lagoon can fit into a boat this size. Use of hull space is very poor in this design. Only 4 guests in. 49 ft Cat!!! And they have to share a head!! Rear cabin beds not even semi walk around! Not designed for short hand sailing. I’d buy an FP Saba 50 over this any day. Probably wouldn’t go as fast as this one, but better for cruising lifestyle and value for money.

FP and Lagoon are heavy and slow, so definitely not something to look at if you are after good performance. I think this line is probably more in competition with Outremer and McConaghy than FP and Lagoon. Whether or not it has good value for money I think is highly subjective.

Agreed Max, wouldn’t say slow though for FP & Lagoon compared to many. If memory serves a lagoon 38 won the ARC the other year. Without boards won’t sail into wind very well etc, but if it’s performance you want why get a 49 ft Cat!

Also I believe it’s a tiny tiny section of the market that can afford this boat and would sacrifice the comfort some boats like FP offer for an extra knot or 2 or 5deg into wind.Outremer are in between I think, with better but not massively so performance with some loss of comfort & space but still ok.

The company slyder / Mavea Yachts is Germany based as well as envolved engineering / design companies. There is a Chinese partner Mazarin. Guess, the production happens in China.

A lot of things seem so wrong on this boat 1. So many ‘joints’ from the steering wheels to the actual rudders that can turn wrong or actually stop turning at all. 2. Those weirdly positioned winches aft with so many lines that just can’t wait to snag. 3. The interior is very well laid out but designed like you’re in the plastic interior of a space ship. 4. Those bunkbeds... no further comment. 5. That tiny miniscule porthole in the aft cabins... Still...I wouldn’t mind owning one!

Total copycat of the Outremer

Not a fan of the reverse bow. Provides no added buoyancy in rolling seas and just buries the bow for a wet ride. Don't think it even looks 'cool. ' Serves no real function. The helms are fully unprotected on a Cat? I can't watch anymore of this
