Happy Holidays, sir. I appreciate the calm, even-handed approach you take to the sometimes contentious TTRPG discourse! 2024 found me wrapping up a two and a half year 5e campaign, running some Candela Obscura, and trying out a couple of rounds of Shadowdark. Looking forward to Daggerheart and Broken Empires in 2025. 🎉

Started really using the lazy prep method this year (inspired by your Shadowdark series) and it has been great. Thank you for all the content! Myself, got ahold of BREAK!! this year and have been running it for about 20 sessions or so now; has been a blast and very nostalgic to run.

physical books can't be edited, erased, dis-continued, or monopolized once you purchase and hold the book(s) in your hand

I ran Ravenloft using Shadowdark this year and it was amazing. I used Mike's advice and the Shadowdark pregens and everyone had a blast. Also, Strahd won.

With regards to moving the needle, I bet the Stranger Things Starter Set got more people into the hobby than the core books.

My biggest problem with all the 3rd party materials on D&D Beyond is that they clutter the search funktion. If I want to find a monster to use in my home game most of the hits are monster that I don't have access to. I it takes a long time to use the advanced filters if I want to avoid that. The products that I look most forward to in 2024 is the new Monsters Manual for D&D and the Daggerheart: Core Set.

Thanks for the bonus episode! Happy Boxing Day! Honestly, it's far beyond the point now when people start talking about social media, X, Bluesky, w/e, that I just hear buzzing noises. I just want to hear about games, heh. What percentage of players in the hobby are actively using these sites? Let's all step away from the feeds and go outside and touch some dice!😀

I am really looking forward to the Cosmere RPG. There is not enough out yet to start preping, but they are ahead of schedule in production. What I am currently preping for is Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms. This setting is fascinating to me and everyone I talk to about the premise of Kaiju fighting gets pretty excited. I have the start of the campaign basically ready to go. I am moving in a month and a half and will need a new group, so I haven't started anything yet.

i would use blue sky or something similar to find players in my area for in person game but discord is great for running campaigns and sharing info, resources, voice chats, etc

We definitely need more VTTs out there that make it easier for indie TTRPG designers to add their stuff to those platforms similarly to how Astral VTT was doing it.

I liked Wild Beyond the Witchlight also! On TTRPG news I was impressed with what happened with Traveller this year. I am looking forward to both the Monster Manual and Daggerheart.

AI is just another "crowd sourcing". No one talks about crowd sourcing anymore, for a good reason.

Why make the product better when it already sells as-is ? Exactly.
