It was a used one, the seller had converted to micro inverters.

I noticed you only have around 230V from your solar array - it seems like if you added a couple more panels you would get more efficiency and power. I have an older model so not sure it works exactly the same, but I have about 430V from the solar array...

Hi mate I have bought a house and it has existing solar 6.6kw in south australia that I believe is working. Previous owner has no clue about them. Is there any way I know when they were put up and how can I monitor their performance like in an app thank yiu in advance

Hi, i you have a SMA sunnyboy inverter you can monitor your output by downloading Sunny explorer here : www.sma.de/en/products/monitoring-control/sunny-explorer

Are you using batteries?

will this directly power my home load with no connection to grid atall .
@geofus7 ай бұрын
You would have to have bright sun all day long and have a relatively light load from the house, you get no power at night so would need to install a minimum 4kwh battery.

@@geofus i want it only in day. in night i will use grid power from local company.. but my question is if i connect only solar panels and on ac output i connect my load .. let say an AC fan... will it run the fan or no out put and give error that grid voltage are missing ..
@geofus7 ай бұрын
@@abaa9218 you need to connect to the grid for the inverter to operate, once connected you have at least 3kw when the sun is out, the inverter will not work unless connected to the grid.

@@geofus that mean the AC L & N will connect to L & N of my home distribution panel which in turn is supplied by the grid.. Will this work normal or do i need a metering device which can transfer any extra power generated by PV sytem to grid.. I also have bought one SMA but now i dont know how to install it.. its SMA sb 5000tl-20 ..
@geofus7 ай бұрын
@@abaa9218 Yes it is connected direct to your Consumer Unit via a Isolator Switch and a MCB fitted in circuit. If you want to export to the Grid and be paid for it, you will need to have a solar Generation Meter fitted by an authorised and registed installer. The SMA 5000TL is a larger version of mine so the fitting is the same, but i would suggest to have it fitted by an Electrician.

Was it a brand new sunny boy, or a used one?
@tomsav672403 жыл бұрын
The display showed 27629 kW/h so, it's 2nd hand UPS ;)

The Sunny boy connectors aren't unique, they're called MC4 connectors.
@geofus2 жыл бұрын
They are similar but not the same, all SMA inverters are fitted with SunClix connectors, you can buy adapters to fit to standard MC4. www.phoenixcontact.com/en-gb/products/photovoltaic-adapter-set-pv-as-mc4-6-150-mn-set-1704982

@@geofus My newer model has nice pressure type terminals for the pv wires. imho better than having more mc4 connectors.
