I thought that the head speed is determined by the gear ratio and the optimum rpm issued by the engine mfg

That's exactly what the video explains. Engines have an optimal RPM, this is why on 90 size machines the idea ratio for an OS engine is 8.2:1 allowing for a head speed of 1950 to 2050.

Spartan vortex vx1. Bert did a video on it too. If u have a v control radio then get a full size vbar . I’m pretty sure he did a vid on the vbar as well.

I find it amusing that people that fly RC models are referred to as pilots

How do you proposed they should be called? Drivers? Modelers? There are many commonly used words to be honest.

I find it funny that full scale pilots find it easier to fly first person rather than line of site like people that fly RC models do.🤣 If you don't do neither of these activities you probably wouldn't understand anyway.
