Priming the engine. Throttle open full and place your finger on the exhaust. Priming will go very fast this way👍. Great video 🙂

real nice vid. i was an electric guy til i got my 30 raptor. now i think ill switch to nitro just for the large helis. I accidentally blew up my tt39 I have a nice os32 coming tomorrow don't want to burn that one out . btw real nice helis and flying

verry nice video any tips on breaking in a new os50sx h i ordered a new engine itl be here tomorow for my raptor 50 . i think theres just one needle?

There are two adjustments on the OS50SXH. The main (big) needle which is adjustable by hand, have this open so that the engine is running smokey & rich for the first 1/2 gallon. Gradually build up load on the engine; at this point you can now start loading the engine a little more & testing the full stick climb out. Don't persistently punch full stick climb out - apply smoothly & gently to test mixture. If the engine splutters on full power climb out, it is still rich. Lean out gradually over the next few tanks until you can get a clean climb without the engine getting lean. The idle mixture is adjusted with a screwdriver - if it is too rich, the engine will cut out on idle & if it is too lean, engine will race & be erratic on idle. This does not need a massive amount of adjustment; it may vary only slightly as the main needle is progressively leaned out.

When you say high range, mid range, are you referring to throttle or pitch curve? If it is throttle curve, then why governor is enabled and used, which definitely interferes with throttle position?

Hi. You are correct - when the governor is active, you can’t relate to throttle curves but you can relate to the power being used from your collective stick position (your pitch curve). So how do we determine which needle (range) we are using? Your high range needle is your main needle; this controls overall fuel adjustment for the engine. This needle is brought into play when you are applying full collective / climb out. When you are flying 3D around the mid-stick to ¾ stick of collective ie. tic tocs, piro flips this will be adjusted with the mid range needle. The low end / idle needle is adjusted to achieve a consistent tick over on the ground. Once the needles have been adjusted to allow the engine to run initially, make sure that your engine is warmed up properly before you fine tune the needle settings. Hope this helps.

Hi. A fuel filter off the exhaust is not strictly necessary these days because most fuel has synthetic oil and consequently there is very little carbon build up. In the days when castor was the main oil, the filter was to prevent pieces of carbon in the exhaust going back into the fuel tank. The model in the video was actually a customer's & he had fitted the fuel filter.

Hi ya can you tell me if can use 12% nitro with 18% oil optifuel i am a new pilot to nitro helis i have os 55hz on a trex 600n fly just scale for now graham

Hi Graham. Your heli will run fine on 12% nitro with 18% oil though you will find it will be more fussy with set up, in other words the tune will vary more with different weather conditions. You will need to run it leaner (screw the needles in) than you would if running higher nitro. It will also have less power.
