Good video Bert. I have both Flybar and FBL helicopters. My 300 and one 450 are flybar, the other 450 is FBL. Learned first on a flybar system and now my new built will be FBL with a Tarot ZYX 3 axis gyro setup. I like scale flying so my birds are a CH53 (300 size), and a Augusta A109 (FBL) ; Hughes 300C (Flybar).

Thanks! I prefer the mechanical flybar. I found the computer/gyro mechanism can cause bad resonance (especially if it touches the ground) that I never see with a mechanical setup flybar. I don't see flybar for sale anymore. I really do prefer the mechanical. Also, less radio adjustments to worry about. But, you gave me some things to think about.

Regarding blade weights, all my early flybar choppers from my 1992 .30 Hirobo Shuttle ZXX, 1996 Miniature Aircraft USA X-Cell .60 and 1998 X-Cell .60 Pro Graphite used symmetrical wooden blades (& even early carbon blades) that were heavily tip weighted with long strips of lead, and a chord CG of about 25% MAC (Mean Aerodynamic Chord). I noticed on my new Trex 700XN flybar-less that the blades are a lot lighter tipped than my older flybar choppers. This is the complete opposite to what your saying about flybar helis using lighter tipped blades.

I realize this video is old, but do they make a kit to change my blade 500 3D to flybarless ? I also realize that parts for my blade 500 3D are getting harder to find.

kind of wish some proper companies would still make flybarred heads because if these brain boxes stop being made you’re pretty much screwed. the simplicity of flybarless is beautiful. but at the same time the hiller mechanism is equally beautiful in its design

If you ask me Flybar or Flybar-less, my answer is Flybar-less. Why? THE LOOK! I dunno why none of the FBL guys gave that as their reason!

I'd never go back to flybar now. Flybarless is much better I think. I learnt on flybar as well.

I'm talking to a guy that said he would sell me an Align T-Rex 450 SE RtF for $175. He's upgraded some things. I'm got time kn with a 6 channel micro but essentially I'm still green as hell. Any advice on this as a beginner purchase? Can it be powered down enough to not be too crazy or is it too much for a beginner?
