Ty for this review. Exactly what I need. I basically got suckered into buying a JL 10w3 from a local shop. Having two SIA3500's running the subs in my car I can tell you the only difference is the bass knobs. The sundowns have these nice metal knobs that look like little amps themselves. The only issue I have with them is they go into protect pretty easy. If input voltage is too high... protect. If you turn the gain up a bit... protect. I like to think these amps are built for more efficient bass builds. Putting them on big inefficient subs takes a little too much out of them.

@@DIYAudioGuy I have the soundstream in my Jeep build because of extremely limited space for components. I was just able to put the txp under the rear seat to drive a pair of Skar 12” shallow mounts in a 2cu/ft box. I will say the amp is powerful but dumps noise in the system. It doesn’t have anywhere near enough caps in the supply side so it causes a high-pitched feedback into the system. I’ve tried different power wires, different ground points, different signal wires run different ways. The decider was I dropped the Skar 1200 amp in and it had zero noise, which narrowed the problem down to the specific soundstream amp. Unfortunately the Skar amp doesn’t fit so the same amp is back in and I have a bunch of ground loop isolators installed that mostly get rid of the noise.
@whodat902 жыл бұрын
If you're interested, since I have the skar as a spare (albeit it'd be laying on the rear floor) I'd be happy to send the soundstream your way so you can test and compare it to the NVX. Be interesting to see whether or not it actually puts out anywhere near what it says it does compared to the visually identical NVX.

Awesome video Justin 👊🏼 It’s so cool seeing little amps like that putting out big power but I’m still not sold on the Brazilian style full bridge amplifiers. They’re inexpensive watts per dollar wise but what good is it if it’s blown? They need to start making them reliable. Too many problems wit those amps in my opinion.
@DIYAudioGuy2 жыл бұрын

@Chuck_Sanders2 жыл бұрын
Full bridge has been around forever, and is very reliable. The problem with "Brazilian" style full bridge, was that they were using boards that were to thin, and it could not stay stable under loads and carry the voltage. JL Audio, Rockford, Alpine and many other companies have utilized full bridge over the years. Taramps used thinner boards in the HD lines, and it was absolutely a problem. We have about 30 full bridge samples in hand, and have been fully tested over the past year, from the same build house used by CT, Sundown and a few others. We made changes to the amplifiers, with faster switching fets, changed up the low pass filters to 40hz and some other small changes. We had one amp fail, out of the 30 or so we have tested. It failed, running at. 7 ohm in a daily build,, after 4 months. This amp he tested here in this video, is an 800.1 board. The build house, has updated the boards a bit since the SFB models, they built. Keep them at 1 ohm, keep the voltage at 11-15 volts, and there isn't much problems to have. Just from our experience. Great video btw. I am now a subscriber!!
