Good job CVF. I use a standard rotation timing cover with the GMB High Performance Water Pump 125-1560P which is reverse flow with outlet on the driver side. It has circular holes in the backing plate which allows it to work with either a reverse or standard flow timing cover so you don't need to match up the D-shaped openings to the TC and water pump's backing plate. You may note that the expensive Edelbrock 8840 reverse flow WP also uses a backing plate with circular (not D-shaped) holes. Nice video.

Hello i have a67 ford 289,and it perculates,once its hot and running,the pump bearings are noisey(some chatter),no leaks thru weep hole,big pully the 5.3"in.i think,im thinkn the pump is going on it,plug gap is a bit wide 40 to .45,that causes more heat,it runs smooth,doesnt burn water or push oil thru the cooling system,so thats tight,if the head gasgts were bad it would miss and fart thru the carb and exh.maybe the carb is still too rich on the air/gas,its a puzzle

Yes, it is driven by the back side of the belt.

I'm working on my 88 Ford Ranger and I'm putting a 74 model motor with a c4 automatic after making all my measurements my motor will set about 4" to far forward what water pump and pulleys will I need to get my radiator to fit in the proper conventional rather I go with the conventional fan or electric fans what do you suggest shorty water pump and new pulleys

Great video, but now I’m confused. I have an 88 mustang 5.0 (early production, built on 11/87) I have the standard timing cover as described in the video and a smooth pulley. I need to replace the pump; should I order a reverse or a standard water pump?

A smooth serpentine pulley would indicate that you have a reverse (counterclockwise) rotation water pump.
