I didn’t eat it all but it gave me a choice. I keep some stuff under one of the seats of the van along with my jetboil, coffee etc. Easily transferred between van and boat in a deep plastic tray.

I missed a trick there. 😂 It did fish well given the time of year and there were other species available. The boat next door had various rays on sand eel and/or squid. That was Dave Collins and he filmed his session which is out on his channel. @thesolentwarrior

I was fishing the 2 x 30/50lb rods with heavy weights at the strongest part of the tide and added the 2 x 20/30lb rods with lighter weights as it eased. I do have the option to fish another 2 rods uptide from the radar arch if it is really slow going. 😉

Nice spurs. I've had nearly all my spurs on smallish baits. As for scad as bait, it don't come much better. It's a brilliant bait. Hope the after affects of covid pass quickly.
@seaangling Жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy, very much appreciated. I’m only tuning into Scad as a bait this past couple of years and will certainly work harder to catch them in the future. I did a Bullhuss focus some time back and they love Scad. It’s a lot tougher than mackerel and stays together a lot better. I’m late to the party with Scad but it does work. 🦈🎣👍🏻

It was a weird hook set where I think it had been foul hooked and then pressed into its cheek which is why there was some blood. I’m not keen on the stainless hooks as they do not degrade and stay put. It all turned out well in the end and I’m sure it will heal quick.

Just the lasting effects of COVID which should pass. An unusually calm day for this time of year and a fishable tide for deep water. This 4-5 week window for the Spurs in this area passes quick when looking for a weather window. 🦈
@shakyangler Жыл бұрын
Well done on the targets species achieved. Just shows that fish will still feed with a hook still attached but ideally not great to have a hook left in the fish but well done on the removal of it.
@seaangling Жыл бұрын
I’m not a fan of the stainless steel hooks as they last a lot longer and this one had no mono left on it so been there a while. Nice to get it removed though. 🦈🎣👍🏻
@mikelong8898 Жыл бұрын
Nice one Mark. Some good size fish there. Can't remember ever catching a Spurdog but that's far too far for me to go. Massive conga too, did you weigh it,is it a PB? 👏👍🎣
@seaangling Жыл бұрын
The Spurs visit this time of year for a few weeks and then disappear again. This was in about 95’ of water which they also seem to like. Conger was too big to weigh, lesson learnt though and I’ll have to carry a strong bag/sack on the boat.
