Idk if you know this now, but you can definitely shoot vertical on the OSMO naturally. Just press the power on button without flipping the screen out

Yeah he seems to have overlooked this feature, shame it’s only 3k in the vertical mode but doing what he does is a bandaid for 4k vertical at least

@owenshemansky I shoot in 3k square mode almost exclusively. 3k vertical is plenty for Instagram. It basically behaves like open gate bc you get more top an bottom field of view

Great point about the ease of access! Friction is a huge reason why I’d rather film on phone, vs a full mirrorless cam while traveling. Great video Edward!

I literally just got back from Mexico City where I purchased the DJI OSMO Pocket 3 right before my trip and used it everyday. Love this review and it’s spot on. Definitely tested out in Manual mode which brought out the potential like you said. You got a new sub ✊🏾

This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on this camera. Thank you so much for your honest and experienced review. I especially liked how you talked about this being a camera you really need to go into for the best results. I am not looking for a camera I have to do manual settings. I’m looking for a great point and shoot Camera that will allow me to take great videos as I travel and for my nonprofit organization. I use the action for for this and think I’m getting good results. I was thinking about buying the pocket three for interviews and low light situations but I don’t think I want to have to go and do manual settings for the best results. I’m thinking the canon camera I have will work for that even though it’s not as portable. Thanks again for your hard work.

If you keep the flip screen vertical you can film vertically it’s down sized to 3k tho. The only benefit of turning the whole DJI pocket sideways is you can film in 4k

It's also cropped when shooting in 3k since the gimbal/camera stays in the same horizontal position. The camera is essentially just cutting off the sides which also results in the lower resolution. By turning it sideways you get the full 4k resolution but also the full vertical frame without any cropping. I definitely could've specified this a bit better in the video though haha

I've been going back and forth in whether to get this or not..keep hearing rumors of the pocket 4 anytime this year now and you know dji will make all improvements necessary...I've been screwed before with buying in late only to have the new version come out a month later

I have the same thought but I think the 4th will not be released until October 2026. So I think I will buy the pocket 3 now after over a year that it is released and you can have so much information whether it's good or not 👍

I use the Pocket 3 for all my content on my channel. It 100% has a vertical shooting mode but in 3k not 4k.

It's also cropped when shooting in the 3k vertical mode. Only turning it sideways can you avoid the crop since the gimbal is actually in a different position. Kinda confusing and idk why DJI didnt just make it so the gimbal could rotate vertically when the screen is flipped. Maybe a gimbal limitation.

the low light is BETTER than most phones with smaller sensors. Just skip low light mode, turn noise reduction to -1

As someone that's already heavily invested in a very good phone i don't see the reason for the Pocket 3, the iq is already way better in res and codec (Sony Xperia Pro i- 10 bit Slog), i can edit in the phone, i can upload directly from my phone, i can even use it "as a phone", my storage space is way bigger than the Pocket 3, i already have 3rd party ND filters for my phone (you need to buy them separately for the Pocket 3 also) , i have a very good zoom , i can shoot in 4k 24 / 30/ 60 / 120 fps. And i can even use my phone as a monitor for my Sony A7RIV when i need one. . If i want a smooth gimbal move, ill get a tiny phone gimbal which is way cheaper than getting the pocket3 so to someone like me, the pocket 3 seems like a mistake especially nowadays when the flip phone cameras can give you a vlogging screen that's bigger.

The timing of this video. I've been thinking about picking up one of these, but put it to the wayside. I honestly had this thought though: if ANYONE could convince me to buy one of these cameras, it would be Edward Lee. I was right. Love what you said about it being a low-pressure camera for more experienced/pro people. What a great mindset. It's so wildly unrealistic to lug around my bmpcc6k for travel content. Do I do it? Absolutely. Hopefully if I get this...I can do that less and still get some usable/great shots. Appreciate this video!

Haha good question. Main channel is going to focus on more setups, spaces, and productivity. This channel will primarily be about tech. I often found that KZbin had a hard time finding my audience when I posted both on the main channel.

The best thing about this camera for me is that. it looks like a toy and people in the area that you're filming still can't perceive it as a camera, Lol . Nobody care or look at the camera at all. Especially, if you wear black shirt and keep it close to your body ,it almost disappear.
