The standout scene for me is Luthen telling Saw. I feel like he want's to share just a tiny bit of the weight of responsibility, so the deaths aren't just his own decision, but you can see the weight of it break what little is left of Saw's ability to trust anyone, or live any kind of normal life. I feel like it makes Saw's behavior in Rogue One a lot easier to track. (It always made sense, but until now it required reading-in a lot of unspoken history.)

Melshi saying "We have to split up, people have to know about this" thing is a direct callback to WW2. There were a couple of jews who escaped a concentration camp (I can't for the life of me remember their names) who decided they had to split up so that if one was caught, the other could still get the news out about what was happening in the camps, which the world was largely ignorant of

Dying to know what show that signed poster is from, on the wall between the two of you? Really cool poster.
Just an FYI...being a PoC doesn't technically mean anything in Star Wars. It means something to us, as the audience...but in the context of their reality, human is human. It's non-humans who are the second-class citizens during the reign of the Empire. In the older movies, all the Imperials were white guys for mainly two reasons... Audiences didn't want PoCs in their big movies. and Only white male actors were available in abundance anyway...because it was the 70s. But, as far as the in-universe societal aspects of Star Wars are concerned...it doesn't matter at all what "race" of human you are. We all look alike to the aliens anyway.
@cloak21110 ай бұрын
Lucas wanted PoC in his movies though. His original choice for Obi-Wan was Toshiro Mifune. He was limited by lack of resources and actors from stirring shit up with the Directors Guild of America. Also this show definitely demonstrates racism against humans with dark features and different cultures and it makes sense. Fascists use *any* difference to compartmentalize the "us vs them" mentality. Just because there are second class citizens who are human doesn't invalidate the existence of third, fourth, etc. class citizens who don't have to be. Whether they're human or not makes a difference where they'll land in the caste system, but everyone is treated like shit to some degree. Droids probably have it the worst, even pre and post-empire.

19:41 Saw is dead on, that's what war is. It isn't pretty, it isn't honorable, it isn't civilized, it isn't something to be glorified, it's just a necessity to make sure that good triumph's over evil in the end. The preservation of humanity and freedom is ALL that matters in the end.
