You’re welcome! I’m so glad this was helpful. That’s why I tried to take the building portion nice and slow and explain as much as possible. I know others could build this exact design for their houses! 🥰🥰🥰

So clever and it turned out beautifully. The trim was a nice touch. Only thing missing was the cost to build the cabinet. But still much nicer than the ikea one even if the price was comparable. I see you wore one of your sweatshirt/flannel shirt mash-ups from Craftmas!
@MaileyElaine5 ай бұрын
I meant to do a cost breakdown but ran out of time. But I will post that sometime this week. I roughly tracked it in my head and it was somewhere around $120-$130 to build. :)

The crappy particle board ones will run you $200-$300 by comparison

This is a trust the process kind of project. Wasn’t sure how the sides were going to work but it is really clever. The edge banding on the front was inspired! Seems much sturdier than the store bought ones too and looks great.

I like the design and your way to build things exactly so it looks like a good quality cabinet. I would add some holes for air movement to shoe storage. Of course you don´t put your wet shoes in, but even if they seem dry, they are not always perfectly dry.

Oh that’s a good idea but yes no wet shoes for sure! Those stay outside! 😂

Great job! It's so professional looking! Especially for a first time using your kreg ripcut! Mine doesn't always come out the measurement I try to get. I think my saw shifts slightly in it. Very creative for a small space! ❤

Oh thank you so much! That why I decided to just go ahead and measure had I stuck with it being set to 7 inches my cuts would have been off. I ended up doing that for all the other cuts I made with it. Hopefully that helps ☺️ I'm so glad you like the project!

WOW Look at your hair - it is getting so long!! You look fabulous. Was waiting for this episode, as I have seen the beginning . I ended up buying a shoe cabinet...... at the same time you started this one, as it was £30 and if I made one it would maybe get into £80-£100 for the wood and flip kit. I know - it is the making it that counts, and I suffered over this, as the cabinet was not well made (well not for £30 that is for sure) and it all went horribly wrong)!! I also added legs because my electrical sockets were on the wall that the cabinet went on. 🫣🙄. I wish I could have done it myself, but with time, I may revamp it or do one myself.

Yeah that’s what I’ve learned when buying something cheap it usually doesn’t last long and you have to spend more money to replace it. I’ve had this project in mind for well over a year and just waited until I saved up for the supplies. Thanks so much for watching and glad you liked the project!
@kenn19365 ай бұрын
@@MaileyElaine doesn't last long??? it didn't even last long enough for me to put any shoes in!!!! It was a disaster... I complained to Amazon and they gave me a refund and I didn't have to return it. That would be brilliant if it could be adapted into something, but even with the legs on, I have not used it! It is just siting there hoping I have some inspiration....... but nothing yet. It was cheap, I couldn't make up my mind about what to get, so I opted for the cheap one to try it out. The space is far smaller than yours. The flip part of one door broke, and it won't open - so I had to remove all of that and put a magnet catch on it. the two doors don't look even. After putting it all together, the thought of taking it all apart to return was putting me off, that I had this notion I should wrap it up as it was - complete. then the suppler (part of Amazon) sent a label that I HAD TO PAY FOR RETURN) so I complained to Amazon. It was damaged and they wanted ME to pay for return. There is a law against on-line purchases that ensures the buying is not out of pocket when an item is damaged or faulty!! In the UK anyway. The nerve!!!! I was quite happy to return it, I just was not happy to dismantle it all after the effort it took to put it together, to discover it didn't work!! 😡😡🫣🙄
