Black - Black -Black -Black!!!! DO IT!!! Love the idea of Black staircase and railings. There is only one issue with black - if the paint gets chipped, it is more noticeable than any other colour!! OPTION ONE!!! do it, do it, do it!!!! 🤪

Combo 4( but with black stairs) Hide that tv in the gallery wall. Keep the entry simple with a mirror or painting and stairs uncluttered to let the black rails be the contrast pattern. personally would keep rustic vibes in accessories and furniture rather than a splash of wood trim with all the box moulding and crown you have. To paint over the stairs, I've had success using a paint pad edger ( has wheels) with an articulated handle attached to extention pole. You basically reach the high middle part pushing up from the landing and can get a pretty nice edge if you keep paint off the little wheels. good call on removing coat rack. Would've been a nightmare to paint around 😹

I think a TV gallery wall would hit higher impact than the cascading down the staircase - it would just be seen better from all angles of the room. The format of this video was fun to follow. Excited to see the result! 😊

Combo 3 for sure; the design is leaning very Regency, the colours work and will still brighten the space without being stark.

I love black too so I choose black for the stairs and railing so maybe I’m a little biased but I think it would look great 😅 Also, I recommend painting the door a similar brown tone to your entry shoe cabinet. I think it would warm up the look but still be a nice bold choice. I would paint the frame of the door black. First day watching you and I love your interior design look. Can’t wait to see the look! Ps- my vote is for the gallery wall to be at the entrance

dark large floral wall paper accent wall in the entry way, colour drench the ceiling, baseboards/moulding, railing, front doors in the same colour as the built-ins, whiten up the rest of the walls, gallery wall where the TV is, personally i prefer a projector instead of TV but either way frames in bronze would look lovely.

Loving all your ideas, I always do, but definitely combo 1 in my opinion. I think the white walls will keep the look light enough to compliment the black stairs and door. Whatever you decide to go with, I can't wait to see it completed 😊x

ok, here i go. combination of all your options. you can make a fabulous gallery wall by the tv with gold framed pictures. i like the rustic wood for your trim and moulding but don’t do decorative wood trims in the corners. keep it simple. also, light wood, not too dark, as you have a dark house. having curtains over the top near the ceiling would visually lengthen your ceiling height but keep it sheer to allow more light in. in changing your sconces, maybe something that has the same type of style as your entryway light fixture. i like the idea that someone else said to do a wall paper in your hallway and match the colors of the trim, stairs and door to the wallpaper. but don’t do anything too dark. and it you’re afraid of heights, my suggestion would be to have your husband do it, lol. would you consider changing out the railings to metal and a wood bannister? the wood could be made rustic, as well. if not, i would still probably remove the decorative acorns you have at all the corners. i think they’re a little too busy for your space. you can do a tan runner down the stairs to carry in the wood tone there, also. of course, this is your home and anything you do will be wonderful. can’t wait to see what you decide to do. because you, girl, are simply fabulous.

OMG thank you for all the feedback. I love all the suggestions and you read my mind with the curtains and the sconces. That's exactly what I'm thinking. I'm also not just starting to do research to see if I could swing redoing the banister budget wise. I don't think I would do metal since that's not really the look I'm going for... too modern but I would love to have a more open railing system. I feel like that would open up the space. Thank you for all the help see others opinion really is so helpful!

Hi Mailey! I was looking forward to your video. Anything you'll do will look amazing! I also personnally like combo 1, but as @McSherrie said, the railings and the door should be cohesive with your living area, so they should be painted the same colour as your build-ins. You can always lighten the entryway with brighter paintings or pictures or even flowers...The runner will add to that too. I'm sad to see the rack go but eventually it will enlargen the space.The picture-frame-tv will look great by itself beside the faux-beams. The higher curtains will make the room feel bigger too. Good luck for all the painting ahead!

i agree that gallery wall should flow down the staircase because of the (beautifully) decorated built-ins, that area would be visually heavy or cluttered feeling, giving more maximalism vibe than regal rustic

I love combo #1 ❤ I always vote for a gallery wall! You could try oversized art on the entry wall if you have the tv with a gallery wall (which looks SO good!)

Combo 4 is the way to go. Since you mentioned your house doesnt get a ton of natural light, going tan is the best way. Also a gallery wall by the tv wall would make more impact than gallery wall going down to the basement, you will only see it at the front door.

I like options 2 and 3. With the box molding being a traditional, elegant look, I don't think the rustic door trim matches. The trim wouldn't need to be as elaborate as the inspiration. Maybe something in between what you have now and the white molding inspiration. Are the bookcases black? If so, black for the stairs and doors would tie together nicely. You could wait to decide until after the room is painted. It could also depend on what you choose for a runner. Do not paint the staircase wall when you're home by yourself! I'm not a fan of a huge TV either but that one is small. Mine is a 40 inch, I think. Mine sits on a dresser (dresser is 32 inchestall). As it is, my preference would be a couple of inches lower. TVs seem too high mounted on the wall. To keep it grounded to the cabinet, the bottom edge of the TV 4 inches above the cabinet might be good. A couple of smaller pictures surrounding the TV would look nice. If you decide not to do a gallery wall on the staircase, a mirror is a possibility above the shoe cabinet. A Roman shade would look good above the window seat instead of one curtain panel. I know you sew so you can make it. Thanks for asking us to weigh in.

Once I started putting the pictures of the examples next to each other I was thinking the same thing with the box molding and rustic trim. and that's exactly what I was thinking I would use the same shade I used on the built-ins for the stairs if I go that route.

Puh, you have many options. I would do a gallery wall in the entryway and the lighter color, not black. I never gravitate towards decorative molding when the house is not really historical. So the rustic version would look amazing I guess. But you should trust your intuition. Your designs are always looking so good 😊👍👍. Cannot wait seeing the transformations.

Yeah I wouldn't go too crazy with the trim it would just be a little something extra from the craftsman trim I'll be doing in the rest of my house. Thank you so much I do have a lot of option. Currently playing around with my 3D program to figure out which one will look the best.

I really like combo 3. A galley wall so close to the bookshelves might look too busy. Any combination is going to look amazing though. Have you seen the paint that makes the project look like wood? That could be a cool project for the stair railing, if you want to bring in wood features for your husband.

I would make the gallery wall by the stairs. In the living room, the build-in shelf is already visually very busy, so a little more calm on the wall is good. I would leave the doorway to the kitchen as it is, definitely not add more elaborate trims, it would be too artificial. If you paint the wall pure white, I wouldn't do the banister and door in black, it's a stark contrast that looks uncomfortable. I also find it a bit boring at the same time. I could also imagine a dark colour there, e.g. dark green.

Black railings and door call back to your built-ins and tie the room together. I'm really not a fan of the decorative mouldings...they seem too fancy for your style. The wood beams bring a connection to the outside, and for me, that suits better. I prefer the gallery wall with the TV. Your entry will feel tight, I think, with so much going on. Of course, these are MY opinions! It's your house, so you do what your heart loves. I know it will be beautiful.

Hey love I think my favourite option is box moulding, decorative trim. Black (although not married to I feel black and white can become stark) entryway and gallery wall. I like the delicate but it's also your guys house hubby gravitates towards more wooden rustic kens dream house vibes 😂 so I'd be inclined to mix ken and Barbie's styles
