The DIY Mommy Black Sharpies work BEST for dating Jars & Bags (& freezer or masking tape in the freezer)!! They are PERMANENT markers!! So write on freezer or masking tape turned into labels to apply to plastic reusable containers’s lids.) You can write directly on glass jar’s paper labels and cardboard boxes (like cereal boxes and hamburger helper boxes, because they are ultimately disposable.) Dry erase markers SMEAR onto your hands (and then your clothing!! 😲😱!!), because they are MEANT to (designed to!!) “erase” EASILY!! (Voice of Experience talking here!) And the color Black lasts longer than the other colors of Sharpie markers. You can read them MUCH longer with MUCH LESS fading.

Just a friendly tip I learned. You shouldn’t store potatoes and onions near each other. The gases from the onions cause the potatoes to sprout faster. If you put the potatoes in paper bags that helps. Hope this helps you.

There's a tiny cabinet above the refrigerator where I store things I truly don't use but maybe once a year. If you want to see a true small kitchen organization check out The Sunday Stylist. She has a tiny apartment, and is the queen of organizing small spaces!

Of all the stores I miss from home (Ontario) I really miss the Bulk Barn. I can't believe we don't have anything like that down here in Virginia. Whenever I go home to visit I hit three places every time: Tim Horton's, Zehrs (for PC products) and the Bulk Barn.

Thank you for recycling sauce and pickle jars. I keep all the glass jars and lids and reuse in my kitchen, bath and scrapbook room. But you can make gifts or candles with others and give them away, too! So glad you are making a commitment to shop at the Bulk Barn instead of single use plastic from regular stores. We vote with our dollars!! Side note: bring a box with you that you can carry all the glass jars and cereal containers with you, as its easier to transport from car to cart and back to car again. @The DIY Mommy

I bought a case each of those large and small glass jars with stainless steel lids from Dollar Tree. They look so nice, and made a huge difference in my pantry.

I mostly use old jars and watertight plastic containers in my pantry. I try to go with the empty ones to an shop where I can buy unpackaged goods. For that I can recommend chalkboard stickers where you can rewrite the label. I also like metal tea tins to use for shopping - there are much lighter. For an family, when the store isn't around the corner, this pantry probably makes sense. You have to adjust the size of the containers to how much you use and how often you want to shop it. Be aware that volume is not the same as weight - rice is much more dense than pasta -> needs a bigger container for the same weight. And then try to adjust your pantry to fit it all with some kind of system.

Looks awesome! Justa suggestion about putting labels on bins that don’t have a flat surface. I use tags 🏷 with ties so they don’t fall off😀 I have a feeling the tape won’t last.

My bf and I recently moved into my parents' house since they left the country to work and they have a cat that loves the outsides (now our cats love the outsides also), I only needed to tell them that I want to make some changes and I got an instant "please do that" :)) This video is my favorite video when it comes to pantry organization. Our kitchen is really small, but it can fit a similar "pantry", only slimmer, but any organization tips and tricks helps right now. Gorgeous video and ideas.

I wish I even had a pantry! No judgement here :) I use one of my cupboards as a pantry. I also keep as much of my shelf stable foods in glass jars....recycled and canning. In the cupboard over my stand mixer is my all of my baking needs. You will enjoy your newly organized space. I love bulk buying too. So much nicer than all of that wasteful packaging. Plus, using the jars ( I also use jars in my fridge and freezer) you can see at a glance what you have and what you need. tfs 🌺🌺🌺🌺

I find the Dollar Tree or Walmart baskets with a handle on the front work great for upper shelves. You have room to add a shelf in the top and a row of those or even put rolls of paper towels up there.

I put a half depth shelf in the top of my pantry above where you have the stacking bins to take advantage of that dead space and it works great for items you don’t need to reach as often. I like all of your storage solutions.

Thank you for this. You said something about how you like to make the spaces that are seen organized but behind the closed spaces they are messy. I am the same way and for myself I realized that drawers closet abs cabinets are a reflection of my mind. try getting really wide but short bins that match the dimensions of your shelves so you can diy “pull out shelves” but just use baskets! also a lot of thrift stores and charity shops sell containers and jars so you can always look there for pantry containers!!

My pantry is exactly this size as well. I'm fortunate enough to not have to use it for baking items, they are stored elsewhere. However, the top 1/3 is a perfect spot for my baking sheets and large platters with a divider, used to keep them upright and easy to pull in and out. It's fun to watch your home projects as I know you, as well as I, have also remodeled a camper.

Love this video! We bought our house last January and my husband and I are currently working on remodeling it. It was a non-negotiable for me for us to add a pantry into our new kitchen as we didn’t have one when we moved in and had a bunch of dead space. We have less cabinets now - only two loved cabinets and a Lazy Daisy. And we will only have to full upper cabinets and two half upper cabinets above the microwave and refrigerator for things we don’t use on a daily basis. Our pantry is a little skinnier than yours but I’m committed to making it work!

You did a wonderful job with your pantry! 😊 I organized my inexpensively by using mason jars. I store my pantry items in the jars. I also use them for water bath canning some of my own pantry items. At Walmart the mason jars were only 8 and $11 a case, depending on the size. I try not to buy things that are pre-packaged because it's more sustainable. I also bought an over the door storage for the pantry and I keep my spices in the pockets. I bought some chalkboard labels to label everything. They were only $0.97 a package at Walmart.

I have a 4'-4"x 3'-8" walk-in pantry, which sounds huge, but it really isn't for a family of 6. L-shaped shelving, I added a 5th shelf even. I've bought many containers to organize it and watch a lot of videos. Still can't figure out the perfect functional setup. So many videos I watch make beautiful pantries that aren't practical because they have so little items in it that it isn't reality. Great video by you on a small space! I've gotten Ikea storage containers and dollar store stuff too, but still unfortunately figuring out my pantry space...ugh. Thank you for the ideas, I will be watching more of your videos.

For the two flat white trays that slightly overlap, you can carefully cut off one of the lips on one side with utility knife. I have done that before and works great. Love the cricuit lettering. 😃

Hi, this is the first time I have left a comment. I've been watching quite a few organizational KZbin videos' one thing in common is no one has mentioned washing new containers before first use. It is a common instruction on all new major kitchen items. I've been quite shocked at the lack of washing or lack of mentioning to was new containers before adding edibles.

I’d still like to know the name of this pantry system, in the event I come across it used. I have a larger pantry that is actually about twice the width as this but, as I live in an apartment, it is also used to store paints, household products and tools. Every time I turn around, it seems that I should move to Canada! If I have the opportunity to transfer to my employer’s other office up there, I likely would. Really nice job, BTW!

So for the very top empty space I have an idea. You can get a sliding drawer rudder and run rods let to right or front to back with a hanging pull. Then use large clothes pins, or metal clips to hang bag packaged foods, lunch bags, or durable use shopping g bags.

Love the bulk barn!!! It is one of my favorite places and they know me by name and kids🤦‍♀️ I go once a week with a bag of containers to fill. Love that I can get all my sprouted flours and spices but only enough that can be reasonably consumed before they go stale

Lovely job , my hubby does the shopping and he loves to buy things like pasta so I've need a whole shelf of jars just for that , also I keep my spuds in a dark bin to stop them for turning , they last a lot longer.
