nice build; looking forward to seeing some power; same generator?
@MickEMaus30008 ай бұрын
Yes, the same generator. I used the same CAD model for the center part of this (just a little shorter) so the hole pattern was the same. The diameter is larger, but I'm hoping for a bit higher TSR. So maybe the rpms will be similar. The wind wasn't great at the time of filming, but there was a puff that made 0.9 Watts for just a few brief seconds.

Those counterweight arms are real short. The lightweight balsa blades are quite a benefit. It can adjust real fast. Good job. Do the blades have fiberglass fabric and resin? I wonder what the tsr is.

No fiberglass on these; just a little clear Minwax stain/sealer that I had sitting in the basement. I'll have to take some wind measurements and estimate a TSR.

do you plan to release plans or models for the built? Nice video

The plastic parts are on Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6717893 But the rest of it would take more describing than I'm prepared to do.

Any updates about generation ? Do you have tachometer ? How many RPM you can get on this kind of wind ?
@MickEMaus3000Ай бұрын
No updates yet. It takes a bit of wind to get the voltage up to where it will charge the battery, and we have not had much wind this summer. I'm working on a larger version, and hope to get back to this once it is completed.

To me, the blades should be at least 5 times wider. Vertical windmills are better at low R p m , And two more rates

I suppose it depends on the job. This is the lowest solidity turbine that I have ever built. I like how it is less obtrusive, and the speed helps in making electricity. It also uses less material. If I were to make another one, I'd probably have slightly wider wings; maybe a solidity of around 0.25.

I am considering a vertical axis wind turbine that looks exactly like a tree, I call it : e-tree, the trunk of the e-tree is brown, the spinning blades are green, attached to the trunk of the e-tree are features of : wifi/mobile network, light and power outlet, to charge a car for example
