When I was young, back in the 70s and early 80s, my grandparents’ phone was one of those old wall hanging crank phones where you had to hold one piece to your ear and talk into the microphone built on the box. When I wanted to call my grandmother, I had to call the Nova Scotia operator and get her to put me through to 9 ring 2. And everyone could listen. LOL!!

Great video Quick Dick!!! I grew up near Dalmeny by Saskatoon , the rumours always were spreading well seasoned you could say! My Parents sold the dairy operation of their farm in 2000 and about month later a neighbour ran into my dad and Said Hey Doug! Heard you are working at Saskatoon Livestock sales, My Dad Say’s I am???? The neighbour said well that’s the news at the coffee shop in Dalmeny! 😂 a little bit of Sask rumour mill a little bit of coffee shop row! Enjoy your videos and please keep them coming!

Small towns, where everyone knows what you're up to before you do. Even after I moved away, my dad was congratulated on my engagement when he went to the garage. That was an interesting phone call, considering I was single at the time.
@christinebraithwaite41454 жыл бұрын
Totally true. Used to have to go to mom and dad’s on the farm to see what I was doing. Mom always knew before I did. She’d always be mad at me before I had a chance to explain myself. I’d be like, “who the hell told you that?!” So and so did. She saw you. “I haven’t seen her to tell her anything for months!!” So then she gets on the phone, WHILE I’M STILL THERE, and proceeds to ream out said rumour spreader. From then on, she would ask me first if a rumour she heard about me was true. 🤷🏻♀️ I miss that crazy old lady. 😔 Great video, Quick! Makes me hate Monday’s a little less. 👍🏼

I one time was walking next to a road because they just chip and sealed it and instead of walking on the tar and having the stones stuck to my feet I was about 2 feet off the road. By the time I got to my grandma's , when I walked in she was cutting up peaches to can them she told me to come over here and take my hate off....... I knew right then... She asked why I cut through a certain person's property instead of walking the road like I was told to... I not once ever was more than 3 feet from the road but by the time it got to her I had cut through a pasture , climbed over a gate and left trash in the field...... We are talking in 30 minutes it went from me not wanting tar on my shoes to climbing over gates.. so I hear this and it brings back memories of my grandma cutting those peaches. I miss her so much.as an adult I would just sit and watch her do her thing in the kitchen. I thought it was rough on her wasn't untill I got older I realized taking care of the. 50 of us is what she lived for. But I never left the road , even though I told her that I don't think she ever completely believed it lol

Brother in law just got home after getting a warning for doing a California stop at the only stop sign in town and the phone started ringing about why the new RCMP gave him a ticket when he was born and raised there? He explained quickly that it was a warning and that they not burn the station down. He had to explain same to wife as she threatened to take away his golf drinking money until the ticket was played for. Would not have believed it if I wasn't in the kitchen drinking coffee and watched it all, was there for nephews graduation.

After hearing the neighbouring farmer brag about his fancy tile drainage for his grain fields .... then sending him a pic of his Galloway herd trampling it from a failed electric fence , the rumour mill cranked out the baloney . Subsequently, a determination was made over coffee in the tractor shed that the herd was mistakenly abducted and returned by an interplanetary cattle hauler ..... this has been a source of humorous discussion and rumour for a nearly a decade .
