This is a completely unbiased #RVReview of the 2020 @ForestRiverInc Mirco Lite 25FKS. We loved this trailer. It had good build construction, which we showed in the Rockwood/Flagstaff Construction Video, as Rockwood and #Flagstaff are the exact same products built the exact same way. We couldn't get enough of the amazing kitchen and open living area. We thought the pull out tray at the back was so innovative. We wished the bed and microwave weren't so high and it was a bummer that it would be tough to use the bathroom and bedroom with the slide in. We think the Flagstaff Micro Lite 25FKS is a great trailer for an RV Sometimer, full timer or the weekender/vacationer and it could even suit the snowbird. It is great for a couple or solo traveler and would work for a family for short periods but having to make the dinette/bed up and down everyday could become tiresome for a #family and we think there are better floorplans in this size range for families.
We saw and reviewed the 2020 #FlagstaffMicroLite 25FKS #traveltrailer at Country Camping in #SalmonArm, BC in July 2020. You can check out their stock too at: www.countrycampingrv.com/

We bought a 2018 25FKS new and going on 5 camping seasons we amazingly haven't had any problem's with the trailer. It tows easy has a great layout and is near perfect for a couple. The only down side we found is the lack of storage space, I did remove the outside fridge which I considered unneeded, and that gives a little extra. But for its size its a great trailer.

Finally a kitchen with counter space! We love to cook and this is the first trailer we've seen that has enough counter space with a great floor plan! Only downside is not being able to get to the bathroom with the slide in, but I could live with that! Thanks for the tour, we enjoy your videos!

I have this model and love it. My wife loves how it is like a mini-apartment with separate rooms. The slide/bathroom issue can be a little annoying but nothing a push of a button can't remedy. We have no problem finding places to park and open the slide while traveling. We'll stop for lunch, to shop, or just take a break and walk the dog. We run the slide out and use the bathroom sometimes, or pick up lunch and eat in the trailer. My wife gets up early and closes the bedroom door so I can sleep in a little. I don't hear anything until I'm ready to get up.

We hear you as I am only 5' tall but that certainly would not keep us from going with this trailer. It doesn't matter which one you choose there is bound to be something that doesn't fit. We always have a stool and fill cabinets accordingly and continue to have fun. There are waaay taller trailers out there than this so we didn't think it was too bad. But if this one is not for you keep looking we have lots of reviews with different levels of cabinets. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

I love your videos! I just discovered them a week or so ago, as I have just embarked on an RV search a month ago or so. I have been looking at 5th wheels, particularly Rockwood Ultra Lites, but am binge watching your videos as I work in my office here on my farm in Washington, and this one came up! Very informative, and I love how you two present all of your observations, favorable and unfavorable. I might consider a regular trailer like this; I'm with you...I love the window in front of the kitchen sink! I am wondering how tall you are...I think you identified your height in another video, but I don't recall. I am wondering if I, at six feet tall, could even comfortably work with that microwave! Looks very high! One of the things I wonder about in these videos is the accessibility of the trailer, including the underbelly, to mice. I look at those slide outs, and try to evaluate if critters could enter through the rack and pinion mechanism in the frame. Another observation I have made with the few Rockwoods I've seen, and this trailer has it too: some of the kitchen sinks appear to have an actual, proper outside drain vent, - albeit outside wall mounted, rather than roof mounted as in a typical house - rather than the in-cabinet mechanical "Studor vent" used by the vast majority of RV's. I like this, because the mechanical vents can eventually wear out. In this video, you identified that feature as a light at the forward curbside corner of the trailer (that semi-circular plastic piece, above the storage compartment at 10:12). Looking inside the storage compartment, the kitchen sink's vent pipe - which terminates at that outside opening - is apparent. Keep on with your videos, and thank you so much for your help in navigating us potential buyers through the assortment of stuff available!
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 2 жыл бұрын
So cool to have you along and we are glad to hear that you are getting value out of our videos, that's why we make them. We love that we get to show you these RVs in a completely unbiased way so we can say what we like and what we don't. Wants, needs and priorities are different for everyone and we want to help folks see the whole picture for themselves. It's exciting to hear that you are shopping and there are so many choices for you. I am 5' tall so I think you would be able to handle the microwave no problem. Critters can always get to something! Damn it! One of the ideas of a fully enclosed underbelly is to stop that but we have had critters climb up our electrical cord 😩 I have not heard of folks having them come in through the slide mechanism. If they did they would (or should) only have access to the space between the enclosed underbelly and the floor system but there is still lots of stuff in there for them to cause problems with. So the best protection is not to park in tall grassy areas, try to keep attachments off of the ground and use deterrents at points of entry. We went back and looked at the video you mention and we agree with you about the vent/light. We will make a comment to clear it up for other viewers. Thanks for that. Let us know if we can help you in your search. We are super excited as we are developing a tool to help folks buy the right RV for them and we hope to start testing it out in the next few months and it might just be perfect for you. Hopefully you are keeping warm over there in Washington, the skies are dark, the leaves are almost gone and the temps are dropping here in BC. Winter is on its way!

Like your reviews and this f'plan a lot; wish you'd do the RW 2507S (and twin), too. Also, Keep in mind: the floorplan may be the same, but, the flooring and cabinet colors MAY BE different (probably, other minor touches, as well); consider them "fraternal" twins. Y'all Be Safe!
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 3 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it. We will add the RW 2507s and the FLS 25BDS to our list for you. The two brands are exactly the same in build quality, materials, floorplans, cabinetry and flooring. There are 2 decor packages for cushions, accents and bedding for each the RW and FLS and they are extremely close to each other. Where you may be able to have 3 decor packages in another brand you basically get 4 here because these 2 brands are exactly the same in every other way. More like identical twins wearing different cloths haha Stay Tuned we do have the FLS 26FKBS coming out soon. Thanks for watching.

@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you like it. This is a nice trailer but of course not ours so I can't say more about the microwave. What I do know is that our microwave in the Beaver is super high as well and I have to use a stool to reach it, which I don't like because it can be dangerous with hot things, but for us we don't use it much anyhow so we would rather keep the lower cabinetry for frequently used items rather then give up the space to a less used microwave. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

The reason that Forest River manufactures the same models under different names is so that dealers close to each other have the appearance of selling different products. They are actually required to carry opposite "brands" if they're within a certain distance of one another. I bought this model in the states for $25k. I don't know how much that is in Canadian dollars, but I doubt It's $43k.
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 3 жыл бұрын
It is true that Rockwood and Flagstaff are essentially the same product so that dealerships don't appear to be selling competitive products. As for whether it is an actual requirement we would believe that to be true but do not have any facts to support it. If you do please send it to doessizematter99@gmail.com so that we can verify it. Thanks for sharing and for watching.

@@DoesSizeMatter When I purchased my 2020 Flagstaff 25fks, I mentioned to the salesman that we had just looked at an identical Rockwood at a nearby dealership. He explained to us that dealers within X number of miles of each other, had to carry opposite brands. I forget how many miles X is, but he was very specific with a number. Forest River is the maker of both Rockwood and Flagstaff, so I believe the policy is theirs, so they can maximize sells without customers bargaining dealers against each other. I'm not sure how well this strategy works. It was obvious to me that the Rockwood and Flagsraff were the exact same travel trailer.
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 2 жыл бұрын
@@tangoindiamike9189 Yes these are Forest River's decisions and there are slight differences in decor or colours but yes they are the same trailers. Next time we are talking with the rep we will ask him what the distance difference is. We do believe your sales person was giving you a straight answer (which is not always the case with info from sales people) We also wanted to explain how price differences are calculated. As of today's exchange rate this trailer would be about $34K US, approx $9K difference compared to the one you bought. There is a whole bunch of other fees to consider though. One of the biggest is Options, which can add up to thousands of dollars. Another is shipping, a dealership in BC pays far more to get a product onto their lot then say a dealership in Michigan that is much closer to Elkhart. There is also Duty to consider and then the exchange number which is calculated on the exchange rate at the time the dealer receives the unit not at the time they sell it. So the only way to fairly compare the prices on 2 trailers is if the dealerships are in close proximity to one another, in the same country and by comparing the spec sheets so that all of the options can be calculated in, and you must compare MSRP to sale prices as well. You have to compare apples to apples. Now the $43K price tag on this one was for sure the MSRP and dealerships always have room to negotiate off of that (which is probably one of the things that happened to help you get such a great price). So when you take all of these things into consideration it is completely realistic that the $9K difference adds up. This is not a situation where a dealership is trying to overprice the unit for their own gain. Hope this helps to explain pricing a bit better and we are super thrilled that you got such a great price on your's and you love it so much. It really is a great trailer.
@tangoindiamike9189
@tangoindiamike9189 2 жыл бұрын
@@DoesSizeMatter Yeah, I think MSRP was about $34k. Sale price was about $25k, but after taxes and other fees, my out the door price was about $27,800 out the door. This included a weight distribution hitch with sway control, and they installed a brake controller in my truck. I know that prices are up right now, and Canadian dollars are more than U.S. dollars, and as you said, there are the import/export taxes, etc. We are certainly enjoying our Flagstaff 25FKS...at this very moment, we are on a lakefront site, enjoying the view and wonderful weather.

Some manufacturers do put stickers on to say grey or black etc... but we notice that they are just stickers which easily come off and if an owner gets a good walk through when they buy and watches some good YT videos they will understand their system and how to use it but if you think you will forget you could always label them yourself. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

Can a Dodge Durango pull this camper? The tow capacity for a Durango is 5000 to 7400 lbs. Do you think this would be too close for comfort?
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 2 жыл бұрын
It's hard to know with this information. Each model of truck can have varying details around the engine and transmission size so you would have to know what the tow capacity for the specific vehicle is you are wanting to tow with is not just the general model. As well this trailer has a great cargo carrying capacity so how much buffer space you will have will depend on how heavy you load the trailer. A larger vehicle will have much more buffer space so you could load the trailer close to it's max CCC but if the vehicle does not have much buffer space to begin with you will really need to avoid using that CCC. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching

@@DoesSizeMatter when you opened the refer, there are 2 labels. And yes ma'am any refer in NORTH AMERICA has the size within the model number. For example: 1: TYPE 21TFA IS A 21 cu.ft. Top Freezer appliance 2: GSL25JFXN LB IS A 25 CU.FT. refer If the label has been removed That's a different story. I am just trying to let you know, sometimes people replace refers and the original equipment might be different... Or do you disagree with this point, As a buyer of pre-owned vehicles?
@DoesSizeMatter

@@patrickholcomb9628 The number you are referring to would be the number that we use to google search the size with. We see what you mean that it could refer to the size but it is not obvious that that is what it means and could be mistaken as something else or another number could be mistaken as the fridge size so we would recommend getting more info then that. We do agree that folks do change fridges out and what you find on a used model could be different than what is expected especially if the fridge type has been changed from a 2 way to an all electric.

What difference between 2506s and this flagstaff 25FK
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 3 жыл бұрын
Good question and the answer is nothing. The 2506S is under the Rockwood name and the 25FKS is under the Flagstaff name and they are built by the same people and are the same. We believe the reasons that companies do this is about spreading out the licenses to sell the same products to different dealerships that are in closer proximity to one another yet making them seem like they are not in direct competition. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

Led brake lights should be full length bars instead of the circle ⭕️ led, can’t see it with the ladder and other stuff obstructing it’s view to other drivers
@DoesSizeMatter
@DoesSizeMatter 2 жыл бұрын
Well we are not sure what the legal requirements are for lights but we do know that Flagstaff is meeting them. The lights will show fine with ladder placement as long as the owner does not attach anything to the ladder and there is nothing else blocking them. If you prefer full length bars other manufacturers do use them and you may prefer to look at another brand. Hope that helps thanks for watching

This is a very attractive trailer, However... looking at the floor plan on the manufacturer's website, it definitely appears that the bathroom and bedroom are not accessible with the slide pulled in. That's a yikes for me! We're anxiously waiting to pick up our new-to-us gently used 2006 Flagstaff 23FBS next week. Way less fancy than this one, with a way different floor plan and presumably all the bugs worked out! Thanks for the greatly informative videos!

We hear your point on this. First we don't really love the idea of having 2 separate drains that you have to set up a Y to or drain separately and yes having them under the slide is also inconvenient but you do have to consider that these are small trailers and there is only so much space to put things. If you are dumping at a sani station your slides would be in and when setting up at a park we would suggest getting your hoses set up before opening the slide and then you only have to go under occasionally for black drain. Hope that helps. thanks for watching

We see where you could be confused as the AC looks like it is not centered because it is close to the fridge but if you look at the whole ceiling it is pretty close. Even if it was not centered it would have to do with best placement to accommodate for lighting, venting etc... There is nothing to indicate that the trailer has bee poorly built. Again, clearly you do not like this trailer and you should look at something different instead of spending your time on this one. It's ok to move on to something you like better.
