This is a very nice model and I hope it works well for you! The big misses for us are the bed slide, the bathroom setup, and the front slide interior options. The 25FKB/2506S is a better fit for our needs and is lighter because of the slide and rear entry situation. We can get along fine without the "full" queen in order to gain extra storage and the outdoor kitchen. The pass through bathroom is a h-no. We prefer the large U-shaped dinette rather than the recliner. We also prefer the darker cabinet option over the all light (we had all light in a previous unit) as you get a beautiful contrast. We love the Rockwood/Flagstaff build quality for sure! We highly recommend those interested in this line to watch Josh's factory visit to see the differences over other manufacturers. Cheers and safe travels!
@CampingCompanions Жыл бұрын
We love Josh! Each camper has it's own Pros & cons. Our old camper was all dark wood and had a HUGE bathroom, so this one is less than ideal for us as well. It does get the job done and we don't shower in it that often. We really wish that this had an outdoor kitchen, and would gladly exchange the second entry for it. This unit is excellent for "Road mode" though. We love our unit! Thanks for all of your insight. Safe travels to you.

@shireguy876 Жыл бұрын
We have the 2516s and we’re also skeptical about the utility of having two doors, until we got a site the reverse slope of the one in your video. No matter the front/ back slope, one or the other steps has always been able to adjust to the ground. If the nose is nearly on the ground to level the rig, carrying a booster step would be of no help. Also, we have on a couple of occasions been assigned a KOA site (one night stops at a Journey pull through) that had a cement “patio” that was too high to use the front steps.
@CampingCompanions Жыл бұрын
We always thought we wanted the solid steps, but now don’t care for them. This past weekend we were on a muddy site and had to put pieces of wood under the legs because they were sinking in the ground. Maybe if they put one set of foldable and one set of More ride steps? We had to build the step just to park in our driveway because the stairs don’t reach the ground otherwise. Overall love the rig though. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@CampingCompanions11 ай бұрын
+@ozcman9034 The dinette set up is a personal preference. We rarely eat inside the camper, so having one doesn’t matter to us. Do they have a model like this that does not have the separate door off the bedroom? I think you're right. That space could be used for additional storage and an outdoor kitchen. One entry door would work fine. One other question I have - how often do these slides become a mechanical problem, and do they develop leaks? I've never owned a camper, but retirement is near and we are considering it. I have no idea where to start, but I'm glad I found your video.
@CampingCompanions Жыл бұрын
There are several options that Flagstaff makes that don’t have the second but not the kitchen we really loved. The 2511 was also a contender when we were looking, but in the end, the kitchen won. The 2513 is might be a good option for you. As for the leaks or mechanical issues, we’ve owned many different campers over the years and have never had a problem. @CampingCompanions Жыл бұрын
+Fulltime RV Nomad thank you! It’s funny, we were looking at the exact two models and went with the 2516s because of the kitchen space and the room around the bed. If you’re going to be full time, you’d probably want the same! As far as the Tundra goes, you just have to look at the numbers. Our 2022 has a payload capacity of 1850lbs. The hitch weight takes up a good chunk of that along with kayaks when we bring them. We don’t travel heavy. We are minimalist campers. We might get close to that number but we don’t exceed it. The truck does have a little squat but not terrible. Otherwise, I feel that it pulls easy. I don’t ever really travel faster than 68mph. (I’ve found that’s about the same speed as semis so I rarely pass anyone) and we don’t have HUGE mountains around here. But the hills we do climb, the twin turbos kick in and it’s a breeze. We average about 12.8 mpg towing. I think that’s everything. Feel free to ask anything!

Just found your channel, enjoying your travels~ My wife amd I are looking at this rv, it works with our half ton. 2 questions: 1) The 2 septic drops. Does the rear have 2 tanks (a gray and black), with the kitchen only having the gray? I had wondered if the rear had only 1 tank. 2) Water inlet. The water inlet is above the power (really thought Forest River would have changed that) for city water. But you showed the water tank fill on the opposite side. Does this also work as a city water hook up? Enjoyed your tours, and thank you for your time!
@CampingCompanions Жыл бұрын
1). There are 2 tanks in the rear, gray and black. We thought we weren’t going to like the two drops, but if you line your front camper tire with the dump hole then a standard sewer hose reaches both ports without having to move the camper, so it’s not so bad. 2)The water inlet on the camp side is your freshwater tank. It does not hook to city water. Thanks for your comments. I’m sure others have the same questions and appreciate the information.
@temoswalt2371 Жыл бұрын
Thank you~ It really is a great rv, I don't think any are 100% perfect. For a couples rv, this one comes pretty close though. So, if Flagstaff/Rockwood takes any notice: 1) Get the power/water hookups corrected! 2) A rectangular shower as well and this unit would be as close to 100% as you can get. Great lay out and great storage, truly a nice rv!

Thank you for making such a great review! I’m currently considering the new Flagstaff 25FKB, new model for 2025 that’s similar, without the rear bed slide. I own and will tow with a 2020 Toyota Tundra Double Cab Limited 4x4, and I heard you mention that you also tow with a Tundra. The listed “hitch weight” for this model is 820 lb. I’m slightly concerned that this may push the limits of that particular capacity. The trailer weight, itself, is well within the limits, as it’s listed as being 5,689 lbs. How has your experience with your trailer been, so far? Are you still happily towing with your Tundra?
@CampingCompanions4 ай бұрын
@@johnulrich650 first of all, thank you for watching! We truly appreciate it!! As far as towing with the Tundra, for the most part, it’s been alright. The tongue weight of ours is less than what you are looking at. Our payload isn’t what it should be for the tongue weight. I would say to check your payload and make sure you don’t load your bed with too much and you should be fine depending on the terrain you’re driving. I wouldn’t want to go up many mountains with it.

How good does your Tundra pull the camper?
@CampingCompanions Жыл бұрын
It does quite well. Just make sure you check the trim package for the payload capacity. Some of the higher level trims have a MUCH lower payload. The SR5 is just over 1800. I’ve heard of the Limited being just over 1200. That’s the biggest concern with the heavy hitch weight. Otherwise, pulling and stopping is a breeze

Yes! The front door to the bathroom is a little tight - need to walk sideways. Or, go in through the back door to the bathroom. The only thing we have found we have lost when the slides are in is the cupboard to the left of the sink. This is the best model we’ve ever had for accessibility.

Sorry but that counter top is not marble. It is Corian . marble or granite or marble is not used in rvs due to the fact it is prone to vibrations during towing and it definitely will Crack! I work at the manufacturing plant in Elkhart, Indiana for 8 years and I have put together the interior for that model. More expensive class A diesel pushers can use granite due to the heavy weight of the vehicle. Just thought I would clear you up on that marble counter top.

I think you need to invest in a new set of stairs that rest on the ground. We did that with our Winnebago Minnie. No more 'floating' stairs. You went too fast with over the sink cupboards. How deep do they go? I didn't see any storage bins, so all the 'stuff' you have in there must shift during travel.
@CampingCompanions5 ай бұрын
@@roxannegordon6162 We’ve thought about changing the stairs because they have been a problem on more than one occasion. The cupboard are pretty deep and we have clear plastic storage bins to store things like spices and such. We have grip sheets to keep things from sliding but they bunch up and we just took them out. Otherwise we have a stackable shelf to maximize space, but we still have to upright the cups after each trip.

It appears that your Blackstone has a regulator attached to it. If your source of propane is coming from the front 30 gallon propane tank; it is already regulated there. Therefore; you are “double” regulated and the Blackstone has excessively restricted gas flow. Just FYI.

Yes, I loved mine too - soooo much. But mine had serious manufacturing defects which they admitted to, towed the camper back to the factory, then proceeded to return it to me severely damaged. They've agreed to fix the easy, cheap stuff but not the expensive, important stuff. If you think I'm just one disgruntled customer, take a look at the Better Business Bureau's Forest River page. Notably, they aren't members, but individuals can still file cases. If I can help just one person not go through the months long agony and financial hardship I have, it will be enough. @@CampingCompanions I felt safe in my half ton, till the front brake calipers failed locking the brakes and ending my trip. Now I feel safe in a 3/4 ton diesel with engine braking. It’s not that the Hemi couldn’t pull the weight or the load exceeded the rating. That 1/2 ton just didn’t have the brakes and suspension to handle the extra load for the long term. The 1500 was well within its rating.
