Gray mate, Simon(Aussie) here from down under. I luv your videos mate just plain old good knowledge, thanks so much for all your knowledge and work that goes into Sharing this with your subscribers. I'm about to purchase two of these wind turbines from green energy, Ive been trying to set up my home power generation on my 50acre property down South west Victoria for a few years now.But the global energy situation has now really made me get serious...I've had a lot of other property improvements projects going on. I have downloaded your earlier vids on all your power generation that you posted from your old place in Idaho if I remember? I've been subscribed to your channel for years now. Would be frigging awesome if you could post a schematic (I do remember you white board diagram) with wiring specs and equipment, rectifiers, displays, load shedding through to 12v battery storage. That's where I'm at about to purchase your wind system. I just got my hands on 8 of 225ah , 12v. Lead acid deep cycle, not a big battery storage but a start.. + 3.5kW of solar panels and SMA inverter. So I,m making progress. My family use on average 10kW of 240volt power a day, so we a very low users and conscious of power consumption in the home and around the sheds. If you could run a video on how to build the system start to finish that would just be superb, would really be awesome. I have a basic idea of how to build the system by pricing together a few of you videos. Hurricane wind power won't ship to Australia, although that may have changed I haven't been on his site for a while. Keep safe and warm (it's the coldest start to winter in sth Aust Melbourne region in 30years I'm burning wood in the house firebox like no tomorrow, but zero heating costs, except chainsaw fuel and sharpening chains! ) And keep doing what you do....we luv your stuff here in Aussie. Appreciate the response. My overall goal when I do a video is to thump the noses of these elite bastards who are making our world miserable mess. Mostly the politicians and their hacks who believe that we are their subjects. At some point the people who shovel their coal will be digging their graves. But until then to keep us all alive we need energy, food production and growth, and to be a step ahead of these assholes. Not sure a total cost but since the 2019 fun bug I have almost stopped completely getting the controllers that I have, I think I've got about 15 left but I'm working with green energy to knock off the design as an addition to the turbines since the quality they have has the effort that people need put into them.

Being an Australian forest near the coast, its not very dense and we still get decent winds blowing through like now. I can really only get to around 20-30ft off the ground by mounting on the roof of my shed before attracting the attention of the authorities (who wouldnt allow it). Should I be looking at a 5 blade turbine considering my conditions? As the 24v spins up in low wind it reaches the voltage needed for 12v battery charging sooner than a 12v turbine would (in low wind the 12v might not ever get high enough to charge). Go back through his videos, there a good one explaining this from 2 yrs ago. Runs for 14:43 . "Micro wind turbine generators low wind answers and options". In low wind a 24 v may not get to charging speed for a 24v bank, so you use a 48v turbine and so on. If the wind is strong enough, you match the turbine voltage to battery bank voltage. This is a 500 watt model I show from GES. Not sure if you got a Green Energy 500 or a similar looking one from elsewhere I can say the 500, It produces more than claimed. But, depending on voltage chosen, source bought from, how its located in clear constant air, and what controller or wiring you used is related to its ability. Models sold by other sellers do not produce claimed wattage since they sell cheapened components. This is not because of the controller, but the problem of your wind turbine. The starting voltage of your wind turbine will probably be a certain value between 40-48V, which has exceeded the voltage of your connected battery several times. Rita

Hi John. I was looking to install a wind turbine at my cabin to help with power. I have 1200 watt solar charging a 430ah battery bank at 24 volt. I was wondering what size turbine you would recommend and a parts list of what I would need to complete system.
@JOHNDANIEL12 жыл бұрын
Exact best turbine has to based on location, and wind averages. Normally for such a build on a battery that size I would say a basic 500 Low Wind model, 24 volt with a build related all in one controller. You can more elaborate and send me details to the shop email, olympicpowercontrols@yahoo.com

@JOHNDANIEL12 жыл бұрын
Yes, using a Mppt controller like a All IN ONE wind and sun controller s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DczYCej use the Wind800W Solar800W with LiFePO4 settings. These should work fine with it, you put the wind power into the DC port, not the solar input. And use a 5 blade 300 or 400 watt so you don't blow up that power station s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmZLxoj . Get the ones with tail up, not down. You will need 1.5" schedule 40 to mount it.

If you can go up to it, check to see if 2 wires are touching anywhere from the turbine to the switch. This sounds like a insulation failure in the wiring somewhere or 2 wires joined that should be separate.

John, what is the best way to connect a copper wire with an aluminium wire? I heard that both materials do not work well together, it starts a chemical reaction, corrosion starts to build up on the connection of the 2 wires, which leads to power loss. My turbine has aluminium wire, while I have copper wire as distribution infra structure. Tell me your thoughts. Cheers
@JOHNDANIEL12 жыл бұрын
If you have a Green Energy or B&C Wind brand you do not have Aluminum wire in them, you have tin impregnated marine grade copper. Those look like aluminum, they are full strand tinned. 76% copper/24% pure component tin. But if you have a SMRAAD, Mars Rock or Vevor you could have aluminum wire. The best way is a full mechanical connection, using dielectric grease on both wire types. Follow instructions and install these inline, amzn.to/3TmAy7b ( 6 to 8 AWG ) or amzn.to/3Sw6IME ( 10 to 12 AWG ) on them with a coating of dielectric grease amzn.to/3VPq1TF on the wire tips as you install. It will prevent electrolysis on the connections for any outdoor or corrosion prone materials.
