The rare candy is confusing to me. why does it exist when you have the infinite candy? also, weren't you at level cap? did the rare candy put you above level cap?

Rare candies allow you to exceed the level cap, but they're a limited resource so you have to be strategic about how you use them.

Plenty of moves and evolutions are hidden behind level caps, especially early game where you can exceed the level cap to have fully evolved starters for Wattson. Later on, they’re used for extra stats and finally they’re used to get some Pokémon to level 100 for the E4 who’s cap is 99
