I used to skate these wheels in the mid to late 90's. They were 39mm and I loved them! I've had a hard time finding small ones too. But the ones back in the day were a little wider and they were tight. We used to skate them until they wore down to bearing covers😄

I skated 28millimeter wheels in the early 90's. Think they were spitfire. They fit though, no need for spacers. Idk why these guys are struggling. They aren't bombing a highway. They are on smooth cement. With the 28's you had to pop over every crack, but popping was easier, ollie's we're higher,and technical tricks were easier too. Because your force transfered to the ground faster. But ,on some ledge tricks....yes, you can slide those small nuts right onto the top of what you trying to slide ,or off the edge of what you grind. We called these street wheels and 58mm's were vert wheels. Which, looking back, is insane because bigger wheels move you faster. Which was the point for vert. Faster drops mean higher pops. If I weren't disabled with a bad back, I'd still skate daily.
@matthewvega56992 жыл бұрын
@@BeastOuncelifeian Exactly!! All the 52+ mm today were all big vert wheels back then. Lol crazy to think about now😄 Yea I was super technical and popped huge Ollie's with those small wheels😁

These are funny, I remember skateboarding back in the 80/90's wheels like this were a trend!
@PHeMoX2 жыл бұрын
Not like _this_ small though... More like 48-52mm. And the people who really wore down their wheels into the 38-39mm range were really kind of nuts (or too broke to buy new ones). In reality, anything smaller than 50mm is horrible for streetskating and the benefit for flip tricks is virtually non-existent compared to the total lack in comfort. In skateparks especially with anything related to coping, small wheels are completely pointless. I'd bet the only people skating the 38mm stuff back then, were people doing nothing but flatground flip stuff.
@tommylabors2 жыл бұрын
@@PHeMoX Exactly.. that's when street skating was really progressing. The lower to the ground the easier to flip the board. Wheels kept getting smaller and no more riser pads.
@mrcbeee2 жыл бұрын
@@PHeMoX Maybe, but I am sure this was a thing. I knew people that would get new wheels and sand them down. It was just a trend. They then wondered why a grain of sand would lead them to slamming on the floor. Back then as skateparks were not a thing, and here in the UK, concrete wasn't a thing used for any kind of paving, it just made it a beeping nightmare.

Tiny wheels were in style for a while in the very early 90's. People used to put their wheels on a lathe and make them as small as possible .
@PHeMoX2 жыл бұрын
Not really true, actually. Vert skating was super popular. And you can't vert skate with wheels smaller than say 51mm. Most people would easily prefer 54mm or larger for vert. And this was true in the 90s. Anyone skating street wouldn't ride 38-48mm wheels either, but go bigger for sure. It's a bit of a myth to suggest everyone rode tiny wheels. And I don't think everyone is skating really big wheels now either. I think 52mm is still a favorite amongst most.
@marklewis352 жыл бұрын
@@PHeMoX it may not have been true where ever you were in the world but it was most definitely true where I live. I personally saw loads of people riding tiny wheels and they were all on street as there wasn't a single skate park or ramp in my home town.
