Thanks for the video! I recently updated my Dell Latitude to a Dell Latitude 7440, and it only accepts the M.2 2230 SSD. Got this Gen 4 mini-SSD and works well. It will never be as performant as Gen 4 M.2 2280 SSD, but it still is more than enough to handle may daily workload (Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerShell, and Python coding). Edit: It is also great for Steam deck.

Actually those 2.5: sata drives are only that big for mounting purposed. Those cases are mostly empty space. The actual pcb and chips inside are not that much bigger that an m.2 drive.

Hopefully one day soon we will get ITX boards with 4+ m.2-2230 especially with gen 4&5 lanes being able to run just fine at x2.

CFexpress Type B cards for mirrorless cameras can be quite expensive. But, you can purchase an adapter that will convert a 2230 drive to a CFexpress Type B card and then insert the entire adapter into a camera card slot. When doing it this way, the cost for a CFexpress Type B card for your camera is cut in half or more. A 1TB card can cost $300 US but you could get a $20 adapter and a 2230 1TB module for $80... So for $100 US you could have a 1TB CFexpress Type B card. The only question is about the sustained speed for data transfer. It would be interesting if you got several of these adapters from different brands (for around $20 US each) and test them to see if they would be a good alternative. Thanks as always for your reviews and testing.

I use a SABRENT Rocket 2230 NVMe 4.0 1TB and a ZITAY CFexpress Type B Card to NVME M.2 2230 SSD Adapter in my Nikon Z8.

I use exactly this one with 2TB in an M.2 cf-express type B adapter. With that, I got a cheap 2TB CF-EXPRESS Type B storage for 8K RAW video recording. And it works well.

I actually came from your ProArt videos. I know your version of the ProArt StudioBook came with the RTX 4070. But what kind of performance loss would you expect if I got a version with an RTX 4060 instead? Main use case will be resolve or blender. Thanks!

Can you compare the Ryzen 8700G with other CPUs and GPU that's closest to the 8700g's iGPU? is it good enough for content creation in 2024 without a gpu for like 3D rendering, Video composition, etc?

The downside is these smaller drives can't have storage options of more than 2th. They can't do 4tb on them. There's just not enough room. Also, the legion go uses a different size entirety. It uses 2242 instead of 2230 or 2280.

Why don't you test any crucial t500 m.2 because I see real good specs for the price. I watch a lot of your videos. You have help me a lot on my first creator pc build (first time). I'm using an antec performance 1ft, pny 4070 TI Super argb OC, Intel 14700k, ASRock z790 Nova WIFI, 96gb of Corsair vengeance ram (2x48), Samsung 990 pro 1tb as a os drive in the slot connected straight to the CPU. Then a solidigm p44 pro 2 tb for a project drive, 1000w MSI meg 80 plus Platinum, artic freezer II 360 AIO, and a thermalright contact frame. I need some more storage. I'm currently working on. I'm not going to use the gen 5 SSD slot on my board. I watch your video on switching. But it's still not real clear to me about does a 4070 TI Super use all the 16 lanes or would 8 lanes satisfy it. Would that be bottle necking the GPU. Does a 40 series GPU need 16 lanes? What do you think about my choices (you can be honest). But you can tell where you have influenced this build a little. You do produce some good information. Coming from TN in the USA!

@kaseyboles306 ай бұрын
@@theTechNotice This update to the standard was just recently, so I doubt it. with nand chips being 18mmx12.5mm it looks like making room rotate and double up on chips, tight fit though. They'll have to get creative for placement of smt components as the current 4mm of free space between the nand and pcb edges will go away. There is a Pcmag article from almost a week ago saying they expect some MB's in the near future (next gen intel and am5? to support 25110 m.2 drives for pcie5, but they don't into details, just speculation.
@kaseyboles306 ай бұрын
The m.2 standard itself does include sizes and widths we don't see often. according to Wikipedia :"The M.2 standard allows module widths of 12, 16, 22 and 30 mm, and lengths of 16, 26, 30, 38, 42, 60, 80 and 110 mm.". So the 25mm is a new width. They could just go with 30mm wide past the connector.
