I love seeing someone keeping and eating the fish they catch for a change. He seems like he's being responsible. He's not indiscriminately killing everything. He is pretty selective on what he keeps. I definitely appreciate when a fish swallows the hook and probably won't survive, he will keep it to sustain himself. Since I moved to the city in 07 I have stopped fishing for the most part but he inspires me to get out there again. Just not in the state I live in. Their hunting and fishing laws are horrible. Thanks for sharing your awesome trip and dinner with us.

Smallmouths taste like a mix of perch and walleye if you ask me and they make amazing table fair. I do find myself afraid to post about eating them do to the hate just like your saying. If you want them to be boneless just outline the back like a trout, you can work your way right over the top of the rib cage just pull back with your thumb as you slide along the ribs with each cut.
@bassntroutfishing2 ай бұрын
I’ll have to try it that way next time. Or I was thinking of just cooking one whole in some tinfoil and poach it or something.

I’m to to sure about eating largesse, but smallies taste like walleye and some people have told be better then walleye because they live in clean deep waters like the lake at my cabin so I try it about 50% of the time I’m up there as it’s easier to catch then walleye

Nothing wrong with bass filets but this time of the year with warm water we ussually don't keep them to eat as they get wormy. From the Minnesota DNR web site: "Mature tapeworm makes the bass unappealing for food even though the eating quality of the fish is not affected and there is no human danger if the fillets are cooked thoroughly." Will not hurt you but cook well and eat as long as you don't mind the appearance. LOL
