How can a band play such a monstrous song live? How do you even rehearse something this insane? The first time I heard Prancer I couldn't stand it, i couldn't process it....but some sort of shrapnel got stuck in my brain and I had to give it a second try, then a third. It's now one of my favorite songs. These guys are very, very insane in a very good and necessary way.

DEP is just another band I can't seem to get enough of. Took me a while to get into each album they put out but they're one of the bands that are worth a couple more listens. That's how I know I'm gonna love a band more than any other, as a matter of fact. Same thing happened when I first listened to Deafheaven's "Sunbather", Elder's "Lore", Cult Leader's "Lightless Walk" and so on and so forth, but now I'm a huge fan of these bands (yep I know, not the same type of agressive music :D )
@SnareGG3 жыл бұрын
thanks for the suggestions! for heavy ones id suggest seeyouspacecowboy's first two albums (they might have only done 2 so far but considering this video is 4 years old im futureproofing) and Fear Before The March Of Flames (iirc they have changed the name to Fear Before and are leaning more towards their emo sound)
@VincentDeLuca20032 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s the thing about dep. You definitely have to give them a few chances. Their music is wild and different, it’s a far cry from typical rock or metal, and if you don’t go in with that mindset, you’ll probably be very taken back by it. That being said, once you listen to them a few times, it all starts to come together. They’re honestly geniuses and probably imo one of the greatest bands of all time, even though they’re a very niche style.

@marcusking85073 жыл бұрын
They're like an incredibly chaotic and harsh punk band.
@paulgreen24013 жыл бұрын
@Samuel Noble, True. Dillinger's barrage is a result of tightness, surprise, and dissonance, with ferocious vocals snarling around the sharp hail. Like Nine Inch Nails, they knew how to temper an abrasive sound for maximum impact.

I always considered them to be a Hardcore band which is a mixture of Metal and Punk. They even started their career within that scene to later become their own entity. Though I would still say they stayed true to those roots by keeping that violent and chaotic energy alive. If you are into that type of sound, you will definitely find more similar sounding bands within Hardcore. However it is such broad genre, for example both Turnstile and Vein.fm are considered Hardcore bands and yet they sound completely different.
