A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is similar but different from a A video projector. Both provide a viewed image fed through a video signal. A projection screen uses a lens system. All projectors use a bright light to project the image. LCD's use the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals. Both Video projectors and LCD's offer a variety of uses. The Projector has also replaced many large home television sets. Science fiction and recent smart phone / watch technology shows the power of mobile projectors. Applications such as creating keyboards on any surface. Also projecting a viewing screen from ever smaller devices.

I didn't hear you say HOW the LCD is connected to and driving your laptop. I would love to do this, but what equipment do I need to make the LCD work on the TV? Also, I want to draw on the TV. How do I do this?

This all comes down to which LCD you purchase - to draw on the screen, you will need an interactive screen. These are not your average TVs as they are specifically designed for touch interaction with many supporting multiple touch points (sometimes 10+ points). If you buy an interactive LCD screen that supports touch control, typically the only connections required to drive the screen from a computer are an HDMI and USB connection (HDMI for image, USB for touch). Most manufacturers strive for very simple connections that require no additional hardware. Can I use Smart Notebook or similar program on the SmartTV in the same way I use it on my classroom Smartboard? The screen size really bothers me. Kids in the back of a 30-kid room need a smartboard-size screen.

You might have trouble installing this type of software on a Smart TV. These TVs are not intended for third-party software installation, they typically only support apps that you can download right from the TV itself.
