If it's anything like what I've seen in other videos I'd guess it looks like either bay leaves garlic and/or cloves maybe Probably to deter pests or moisture 🤷

Just a comment on the little humidifier, the demonstration would have been a little better if it hadn't been demonstrated right in front of some books. Now I don't claim to know everything but I'm sure putting a humidifier in front of some books is a bad idea.
