I took my first driving lesson yesterday. It was in a Vauxhall / Opel Agila. The slow steering caught me out at first. I got crossed up quite badly the first time I turned it. Would have loved to drive a Smart Fortwo instead. But having said that, I still had fun with the Agila once I got used to it. I guess that means I can have fun with any car then :)

You said in your review that you'd get back on the subject of fuel consumption later in the video, yet you didn't. That seems to be the Brabus' main problem, as it's reported to be an average 9/10 L/100km, which compared to their announced 5/6 L(100km is almost twice the value! Apparently, all other Smart models have that problem too, but to a lesser degree. People who ask are usually given the "well it depends on how you drive" response, which is really a not-so-honest way to hide the problem.

The reason for the "booming exhaust" in the Brabus ForTwo is because the visible exhaust outlets are fake, they are duplicated in the bottom of the silencer under the car, thus capturing all the resonance inside the car at low speeds & at standstill. The question has to be "why do this?" Because the Forfour Brabus - same engine etc. just a stretched wheelbase for extra seats - actually uses the visible tailpipes as the exit for the exhaust gases & is MUCH quieter under the circumstances described, although still similar exhaust note - like half a Porsche :-) Maybe a brief return to& road test of the ForFour Smart might give a chance to explore this nonsense further?

Awesome video! Maybe I missed it, but I would have loved to have seen the regular Brabus interior to get a better idea and compare. I'd love one of these cars, but wouldn't be getting the Brabus version. It looks nice, but can't say I can justify the cost personally. How's the sound though with the JBL subwoofer? Would you say that's a worthwhile upgrade? Although you do lose a good part of your trunk though.

Excellent review. These cars really make me smile, althought they are a bit weird :-) Probably more fun per Euro than many other (and bigger) cars. The smartphone holders in the back of the front seats might be dangerous: when in a collision the rear passengers' heads move forward the smartphone will hit their faces?

To me, those high end trims in everyday cars are just misleading and should be avoided by motoring journalists IMO because it can lead them to wrong conclusions and misleading perceptions about general quality. Yes, in more luxurious models they make sense (for example, in bmw 3, merc c class and above), but here... Also, looking forward to a review od plain 1,4 tsi Golf, great allrounder for every man or woman out there! Preferably in mid-spec :)

Great review for the tiny baby Merc. Does this car really need a reversing camera? Does this car fit into the real small practical segment? No. This car will only be purchased by people who have disposable cash and tow it behind their £100,000.00 camper vans! if they have taste!! Mercedes sprinter conversions look the best option. Mercedes must have a market for this vehicle. Why else would they bother.

Nein. Genau für die Stadt gibt's nichts besseres als Smart. Und Smart Brabus hat noch einen weiteren Vorteil - er ist gut auch für die Autobahn. Ich hatte 90 PS Smart 453, Abarth 595 mit 180 PS und auch ganz große Autos (5+ Meter).
