They came out nice and easy, i was not so lucky even after a week of prep (oiling,getting it real hot). If anyone has a glow plug core stuck in their cylinder head like i did a few months back . I worked out a trick to help you out,maybe i should do a video ? Great video by the way!

Yah if they are really caked with carbon or the glow plug melts out a bubble before burning out then they could really stick in there. High quality glow plugs are a good idea when changing out.

i did one and the second was creaking like yours so I put it back in and I've been soaking it in wd40 so I'm going to have another go in a few days, new bosch glow plugs were £17 for 3

the problem is, it is the tip of the glow plug past the threads on the plug that might be tight in there. Can spray it with the glow plug threads loosened, but the penetrant may not get down deep enough past the threads to do any good. I havn't tried it myself, but a really thin penetrant like some acetone mixed with a little atf & left to sit might, I stress might soak down far enough to do any good. Another thing maybe could do if it didn't loosen up is spray a product like sea foam in the intake while running make sure follow product directions. Will probable help to disolve & soften carbon in the combustion chamber. Might help loosen from inside if spray a good amount in & let sit & then try remove plug. But if the plug burned out & melted out a bubble in the tip it might be tight coming out regardless. Good luck Sir. :)

Hey buddy, me again. I hit a puddle and started to hydroplane then this glow plug light came on with three horitzonal lines showing on dash. when I came to a stoplight, it just revved and wouldn’t go into gear. I took the battery out for about an hour and put the battery back on but the same thing. I wonder if I let it dry out for a day or so if the car will go into gear? I cleared code: p0380 I did rocking it back-and-forth while adjusting the gear shift back-and-forth but no dice (2005 diesel) any thoughts ?

Stop hitting puddles! Haha. What you got to do is get a big bag of rice, a huge bag. Large enough to push the car in & seal it up. My guess would be it is stuck between two gears a bit. Should be able to here & feel it try to go i into gear if it is trying. Should be able to hear the clutch move in or out when turn key but not start then try put into gear. It should attept it. If it did not tnen maybe something disconnected or water in connection somewhere. Water probable would not effect the 12 to the shift actuator but it might have an effect on the computer knowing if it is in gear or not. What the computer is thinking should be displayed om dash. For example if on dash it is displaying 1st. But it is really in neutral. I would double check all your connectors, ecm included. Blow out with air & pilut some di electric grease on the connectpr. If water on cpnnection was the issue then the grease will help keep the water out next time. I think computer had a brain fart or connection came loose (maybe a ground wire even), or stuck between 2 gears.

@@manbuilds1587 thanks for the tips buddy! The check engine light is on, 3 lines showing and glow plug light on. I did disconnect the battery for three or four hours, put it back on, held the breakdown, put it in reverse and rocked it back-and-forth exactly like your video for about 30 minutes but still shows the 3 lines. i’m thinking about just buying a clutch actuator and the glow plugs and taking it to the shop and pay them to replace. How many glow plugs in the 2005 0.8 diesel three or four?

@@branscombe_ 3 glow plugs, 3 cylinders. Hmmm. Not sure what could be. Maybe something shorted out. There is a main connection for wiring under the car behind the under car cover. There is the 2 connections into the computer under the air box. The glow plug controller & relay is mounted on the passenger side rear frame structure in engin bay, right infront engine. There is the connectors on the shifting motors themselves between the body & engine/transmission in hard spot to see. Maybe fuses blew, alternator probable got soaked, it is low on engine at front. Maybe spoke in voltage, not sure. The connector for the clitch actuator is a hard one to get on & snapped in place, possible that one popped off. I have pressure washed my engine many times now & have thoroughly soaked the engine & all components many times now with no issues. I am thinking a connection is loose, something could have shorted, but I bet is a loose connection. Also computer sometimes needs time to read all is ok & reset. I was driving once & the car had a miss shift or some sort fault & I pulled over, checked connections. Started it & gave a moment, ran through gears & shifting while parked, shut of & on again & havnt had the problem since. Like in winter if on alot of ice & front tire speeds are different it will light up the dash with traction control & brake. It will take like 5 start ups before the computer will settle down again, light goes off & no issues. Second car, both cars do the same. So may just be a matter of giving computer time to reset after all sensors sent back wrong signals when hydroplaining & getting went. Put battery back in. Check all connectors & fuses well. Start it a few times & just let it idle there there for a duration. Shut off/ start. Attempt shift into gears coiple times. Maybe will reset & go back to normal if reads ok for a duration. If no go then I would say yah get mercedes to scan & see what is throwing the code. Hopefully they are competant & not want change un-nessary components. @@manbuilds1587 another thing I noticed is the vehicle will start in any gear, reverse first or neutral. I hope it’s OK but I made a quick video of my car to get your thoughts, I might just buy a clutch actuator, glow, plug, control, module, and the three glow plugs? Hi, any ideea if the glow plug module can be repaired? I get P2270 and P2781 error(glow output stage and auxiliary heater short-circuit)

I was lucky in finding parts at auto wrecker & changed mine out. Anything can be repaired. I have not done it though. Change all your glow plugs first & see if fault goes away, glow plugs are cheap. here is a link to a pretty good website. www.evilution.co.uk/mod/glow-plug-controller-fault.htm

Is that 192000 miles ? Wow great engines!

kms, will see if makes it to 192000 miles. Some do make it that far if taken care of. Egr is a killer for these engine. Carbons up back of valves & they start to stick, as well as wear out valves seats. This one made it to 190000km all stock, it should last a fair bit more.
