The delivery leg is what you asking about, I feel like the last leg needs to require some sort of scan with a handoff that confirms delivery, maybe something like the signature required at delivery.

@@kahreeLeoKing Signing a package is already being used now to confirm mail receipt. Even then, I don't see how smart contract can reduce foul play. I can simply say the product is not of acceptable quality or that someone else signed it and I never got it. Smart contract to me sounds like its putting money into an escrow account that gets released upon delivery. It protects the buyer but seemly increases the risk of the seller.

@@JW-ku7nn Fair point, it becomes very tricky to do something really fraud proof without additional smart identifiers that must confirm the identity of the recipient with the identity of the purchaser through some form of biometric, before the delivery can be released (or approved persons that can collect on your behalf) that will open up a whole bunch of security overhead and privacy issues. The true benefit of this will be on the seller and supplier side having a streamlined transaction tracking system.

But who verifies that you (i.e. the customer) has received the goods from ABC company, thereby triggering the "THEN" event, payment to ABC company? Does the customer self-certify that he has received the goods? In which case, the customer can "cheat" by receiving the goods, but then refusing to certify or declare that he has received the goods -- in which case ABC company does not get paid.
