There are a few other handy things that kAN missed: 1. You can just connect a driver's seat directly to the smart engine if you want to use like a normal engine. 2. Pistons will still be able to move without inputting a speed value. 3. If you put a single value into a math block set to subtract, it will make the value negative.

Lord Pain I really hope kan sees this. You don't need a smart engine. I made a car with 6 engines, each with a different speed. They are wired to an axle made of thin pipes, with a bearing separating each section. Pressing the switches to activate them in a successive manner not only gives you extreme speed capability, but also gives the feel of driving a manual car. Hope y'all found this helpful.

yo kan, when binary gives you 0 and 1, multiply it by 2 and subtract 1, that gives a positive 1 and a negative 1. kinda easier then so many blocks.

My absolute favourite part in Scrap Mechanic. I used these in 3 different ways in my Toyota Hilux (Tundra): 1) as a custom engine with torque curves over multiple gears, 2) as height adjustable suspension that will stiffen when turning (for anti-roll), and 3) as steering with specific turning angle

For those that don't know, you don't need to multiply by a negative 1 to make your number negative, just run it through the Math block set to Minus. This switches the sign of the number.

For the button controls you can also subtract one input from the other and then multiply by your desired speed or angle if you want to use one less counter block.

great video again kan it helped me a lot with progress on my scrap version off the Halo AV-14 Attack VTOL. i have a question for anyone that can help. so thanks to this video i was able to get the steering to work. pads tip forward and back for WS and in opposite directions for AD as well as pad propeller speed. my issue is that it tips like crazy. Any ideas for making it more stable and prevent the body from moving too much?

You don't need to add a counter every time you want to multiply by -1. Set the math block to subtraction and use 1 input and it will multiply it by -1.

while watching this i had a thought, could you make a car more like a real life car. by that i mean gears (mutli set speeds 1-slow 2-med 3-fast) steering that changes based on speed, the faster you are the slower the steering is, thus making a car have a decent turning circle at slow speed as well as use able steering at speed (gentle) this would be useful for races as you could adjust your speed to the course.

Easy, just paint 3 switches which lead to a number block which feeds smart engine for speed. Each on switch would be a gear, similarly use those switches for turning radius

well...that engine didn't help really when i was to build an tank today.... i wanted to make it so that when i turn left or right with the tank then the wheels on the opposite side would go in reverse.... but that is too complicated for me...also.. i wanted it to be an RC tank...which made it even harder since its didn't want ti to be as big as an normal player tank... so i had to make a special setup with with pistons and sensors for turning and also4 engines and 10 wheels... it still doesn't turn the way i want...... also.. it can't shoot since button signals doesn't go through the router... which is sad..
