One of the best cars I have ever owned. Great to drive and build quality is excellent. Only thing is I had to get the steering rack changed under warranty. Mercedes after sales service is very poor.

ummm, that's not a standard feature on all cars by any means, especially small and cheap cars. I have a 2009 aygo. it does not have remote locking and it does not have central locking.

Reason why I like the old ForFour over new one, is that it was actually ForFive rather than ForFour, and it was engineered by Mitsubishi so it was reliable than other Daimler products in those days

I only root for Japcars but I think this design is cute,not to mention the inside is refined,sad it's not a merc engine but you'll pay more than a 1.5l engined car,I just hope it won't burn the buyers' wallets

I'm guessing this car is merely for extravagant people with a plentiful economy, but it does look futuristic and at least for me it would be a memorable experience to be able to drive one. For some reason, I feel attracted in a way to cozy, little cars that simply exude this "chic" kind of lifestyle someone without a family would only enjoy, and also exclusive to what people could go for living in some nice city. Owning a Smart would be rather fun, I think. But they seem a little overpriced.

Missed on review, little things like: Engine in the back, back windows don't go down, only four seats, only £600 more than the ForTwo, stability control kills the handling, Tridion safety cell, flip over seats in back, fold down front passenger seat for long items, more sound insulation than Twingo (ForFour is a lot quieter), really really expensive (£14,000 for top model!), not a Mercedes - Daimler take the credit, stop start on all models, no real world chance of getting 67mpg (UK gallons) - something Matt always comments on...

ive had one of these for just over 7 or so months now as my first car, main critisicms are the useless automatic gearbox which lurches about, completely sleepy stop/start function that you have to turn off every time you get in, and the fact it appears to have no power whatsoever to overtake even the slowest of lorries on the 1.0 NA model not to mention the fact it easily blows about in high winds like an untethered kite. Boot space isn't good either but that's what you get for something with the engine in the back. Trim levels are baffling (for example mine has heated leather seats but manual mirrors and no seat adjustment????) The looks divide people, honestly I'm not too bothered. other than that though, parking is great, its cheap to fill up, insure, tax, etc, just don't take it on the motorway for long periods. hoping to get something more car-like as my premium falls

I don't know why car makers have hidden bins when its obvious its a "hidden bin". They need to have a compartment under the seat with a proper lock on it or key-code (so that if you lose the key your not screwed).

So this car is basically a rebadged Renault Twingo. I think that on the exterior it's actually uglier than the Twingo. On the interior, it has a Renault gear shift knob, buttons and others. The plastic looks quite nasty to be honest and there's one more thing: pop out rear windows she "forgot" to complain about. If this was an AYGO, C1 or 108 we would have heard about this. A bit unfair I would say...

+Cristian Boerescu - This is why you buy Smart cars used. You can pick up nearly new Passion examples for £6k and as a used proposition, they're an absolute steal particularly with the high equipment levels. I liked this car when I drove it although I recognised its limitations - poor at motorway speeds where the high centre of gravity and short wheelbase make the Smart susceptible to cross winds. The plus points are numerous though - ncredibly maneuverable, comfortable, well equipped (even in passion spec), had good soundproofing, was well built and had a pretty decent primary and secondary ride.

Why do we need this outside/inside toy looking car, the parts remind me like it is for tele tubby audience kid, I don't joke. Just for turning circle, do we need it? How can running costs can be cheaper, if it is in a Mercedes service maintained. A front wheel drive small car has much better handling on higher speeds then this driving concept. It is not a Porsche. Sure very awkward weight distribution it has.

+Steven Watson - I've actually driven one of these and found it a very good city car. I've also driven and owned Fiesta's and Clio's. The Smart ForFour is incredibly maneuverable, comfortable, well equipped (even in passion spec), had good soundproofing, was well built and had a pretty decent primary and secondary ride. As a used proposition, they're an absolute steal. The major issue is at motorway speed where the high centre of gravity and short wheelbase make the Smart susceptible to cross winds. It's not a car to buy if you do lots of motorway driving. For a city driving the ForFour is better than either a Fiesta or Clio but the Fiesta/Clio etc are much better on motorways and for driving on country lanes. It depends what you want from a car.
